Is F.lux and (other related programs/apps) placebo?
>>51745652
my eyes burn after a typical day when i turn flux off. it isn't placebo.
>>51745652
How can altering the color temperature be considered placebo? It's been known for decades that eyestrain is better with lower frequency wavelengths.
>>51745652
No.
Delete this.
nope
fuck you google i know what a bicycle is
>>51745844
for me it just makes my screen look ugly. what's the best colour temperature?
>>51745717
who knows but it works for me when working late
>>51745652
No, it isn't. But on that note, are there any better alternatives to flux?
>>51745652
I know Flux makes my laptop with switchable graphics go batshit insane. I removed it from all my computers.
Twilight (does the same thing) on my phone is a must other wise my eyes melt. It definitely does something.
>>51745866
Try looking at it for 30 seconds, bam now you don't notice.
>>51745652
Yes, it's retarded.
No, it's much better on your eyes, especially if you keep your room poorly lit at night.
STOP USING FUCKING WHITE DESKTOPS AND USE DARK THEMES ON WEBSITES YOU FUCKING IDIOTS
>bawww i need my bright white desktop
>Y I HAVE EYESTRAIN
>>51745975
Better yet, do that and use flux.
>>51745957
As retarded as people who argue with facts?
>>51745866
It heavily depends on the ambient light, because what causes eyestrain is mostly the extreme contrasts at night. So, the darker the environment, typically the lower the color temperature. There's a reason astronomers use red lighting.
>>51745866
Lower color temperatures are easier on the eyes.
If you use it for a long time you will generally get used to the color difference. Switching back after a while makes higher color / blue look fucking wild.
I heard turning your devices off at night, help you sleep.

Good one
>>51746073
i think this is a neat fact. thank you anon
