A C# compiler called Roslyn has recently gone open source. So Microsoft is trying hard to keep it worth learning.
Visual Studio is a God tier IDE.
And the language is generally nice to work in when compared to PHP.
I would learn it if you want to make Windows applications or get into backend Web development.
Otherwise, learn C++.
C# is incredible as a language. It just has Microsoft up it's ass, which is a shame.
