Windows administrator is *not* the equivalent of root. Windows does not even *have* an equivalent. The closest you'll get is an account like localsystem with the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM token, but even that has limitations (especially in more recent versions of Windows). The whole situation is an idiotic mess.

Temporary privilege elevation for administrative tasks even as a single user system using sudo is far better than the Windows model where single-operator systems combine the Admin and ordinary privs in the first created user.
The *nix model keeps one from stepping on one's own dick and isn't as inconvenient as UAC.
