Why do you call it skymeme?

Is there something the regular consumer does not know about?
>>
>>51704038
Not that it's bad, but there's very little improvement in performance, for a higher price. There's no real reason to pay more for Skylake.
>>
>>51704038
I guess if you're coming from a Q6600 you might as well go with the new shit. But even for sandy bridge owners it's not a compelling upgrade at all.
>>
>>51704635
I'm coming from Bloomfield
>>
>>51704635
Heh. That's what I did. Went from a Q6600 to a 6700K.
>>
is there ANY reason to get a skymeme instead of a 4790k?

i'm 99% sold on upgrading to the 4790k. it is the fastest clocked intel cpu right?

Hmmm. I also just noticed the price of it on Newegg went up $60 since I bought mine over 3 months ago.
>>
Skylake has improved wireless and power management features so it is a very big plus for laptop users. For desktop not so much.
>>
>>51705123

b-b-but i want 4ghz from the factory!

and then i'd have to buy a new motherboard, already got a LGA1150 board.

who am i kidding, i don't need a faster cpu to shitpost.
>>
Only worth it if you're starting completely new build but just like everyone else said not really worth upgrading from a last gen unless you have some shitty cpu

Im coming from Q6600, Im going for i5 6600 which performs at i7 4790k without the hyperthreading meme, felt like 6700k is too expensive of a premium
>>

>which performs at i7 4790k without the hyperthreading meme

maybe you should just keep that Q6600 after all.

what are you a poorfag anon?
>>
>>51706869
Someone posted a series of game benchmark when cpu based games i5 6600 works par with 4790k no overclocking

Well Im not overclocking due to my location and heat reason
>>
>>51707112

well no shit, if a game isn't cpu limited then you won't really benefit from the extra mhz.

being clocked faster and having hyperthreading makes the 4790k a more powerful cpu in cpu intensive tasks, period.

>>51706996
>poor
>300+ dollar cpu
>>
>>51707112
That's because most games are more gpu limited than cpu, and most don't use hyperthreading.

If you compare them with something cpu intensive like high level 3d modeling, generating gcode, ect then the 4790k will hands down perform better.
>>
I personally refer to it as skylel. To each his own I guess.
>>
>>51705843
I'm sorry for you're loss.

I'm keeping my 2,5k and will switch to AMD.

Intel fucked up with skylag. Unless you want a passively cooled system and/or a computer which consumes less power, there is nearly no reason to get a new Intel CPU. Ok, there's AES acceleration, but I still get nearly 500mb/s with my sb intel, so there's literally no reason for upgrading for me.

More and quicker ram would be helpful, a quicker CPU can't really be found yet (except for the AMDs due to earlier integrated mem controllers and more cores - if you disagree: ayy lmao, son).

when going for a passive build, there's not really a way around skylag, but for anything else you should go for the soldered heatsink CPUs, not the gay ass thermal glue ones. It's a fact.

I'd stay with Intels latest CPUs, but they've really been a disappointment for everybody that wants more speed.

There are 6 and 8 core ones from Intel, even up 32 cores can be bought. But unless you're no milli0naire, they aren't really affordable (especially when you think about the 0% speed increase per core - also just quad channel ram which isn't really quicker than dual channel due to ??? reasons...)
>>
>>51705100
Several, but as far as sheer performance gain they are mostly irrelevant.
>DDR4
IF and ONLY IF you fork out for 2800mhz or faster DDR4 it is a noticeable speed improvement. Lower speeds help with VM's, though minorly compared to faster-than-DDR3-1333. Coming from DDR3 1333 to DDR4 2400 was a noticeable improvement though.
>new(est) mobo chipset
Minor improvements to the audio over AC97, though not much really over the Z97 or X99 in terms of functionality.
>m.2 PCIe x4 on (most) Z170 boards, m.2 PCIe x2 on most H-series boards
PCIe x4 is one hell of a speed improvement over SATA3 SSD's, PCIe x2 is a noticeable speed improvement. Case volume savings with m.2 slots native to the board (yes I know X99 boards had them too).
>USB 3.1/USB-C
3.1 is nice for charging stuff. USB-C is still rare but is future-proofing.
>minorly faster than previous enthusiast-grade chips (everything but 4790k, which was EoL release. 6700k is faster than 4770k, 6600k is faster than 4670k and same clock rate as 4690k)
>SIGNIFICANTLY better iGPU (not like you'll ever use it)
Shit's actually getting decent. About on par with a low-end A8 APU. Partly due to benefiting from the higher-clocked DDR4.

But yes, when compared to a 4790k, there is very little going for it you could not do later (when you actually need it) via add-in cards. About the only usage where it would DEFINITELY be better than the 4790k would be mITX where you don't have free expansion slots.
>>
>>51708029

HIGHER speed RAM helps with VM's

Haslel-E is better. More cores and soldered. The IPC improvments aren't big enough on Skykeks to give a shit.

Yes. It broadcasts its instructions openly over GSM so the cutely named SKYNET program allows the NSA to determine when you illegally obtained your rare pepes. They pass the data collection off to India since the information super highway is a designated shitting street, so can be done legally, since they know that apathy wins in the end when it comes to taking down the surveillance industry already in place.

Speedshift is much faster in speedstep coming out of very low clockspeed/power states, and there are many finer steps instead of fewer clunky ones.

Smoother clock speed changes, lower power states, lower TDP, lower heat.

DDR4, more PCIE lanes, USB 3.1 and USB type C.

I kinda regret getting my E3 1231 V3 instead of holding out for Skylake after playing around on some of the skylakes during deployment for my clients.

i5 6400 for $187 USD is not bad at all.
$367 USD for a 6700K local store has so much stock left they've been doing bundles for the past month.

I was coming from a E6700

I went for it.

Now a lot of people will tell me Hurr 5820K durr.

But I'm fine with this I saved 100€ on the mainboard. And about 30€ on the CPU before Skylake prices shot up to the sky.

I got it at that 385€ price in August. Now it's 469,- € it's fucking hilarious.

There is nothing wrong with Skylake. I have 6600k at 4.5ghz with the h100, and it's just fine. People need to stop tightening the bracket with a power drill.

The other question is do you need a Skylake? If you have 2500k and above, probably not. Just buy a new video card and wait for 6-8 cores to become the norm.
