There was literally over 9000 skins to make your XP look like Vista. I was fucking crushed when my laptop couldn't run Aero on release of Vista when it could run it in one of the betas.

Brought some very useful things like the new sound system (that actually worked unlike early PulseAudio) and WDDM.

It was fine.
After I disabled UAC I never really had any other problems with it. perfectly happy with 7 currently which is pretty much the same thing.
It got more hate than it deserved.
