It's a model that you could apply to more than just furshit, it's pretty much the model for 4chan. The real question is what to implement that actually improves upon the imageboard model. What multimedia and web3.0 features need to be standard?

I'd wager that most (>75%) scrapers running on 4chan weren't written by their operators. If a developer of said scraper found out having "curl" in the user agent meant a ban, they'd figure it out pretty quickly.

Speaking of math, let's do a little.
Let's sat the inbuilt thread watcher updates once every 10 seconds. For one thread, that's 360 requests in an hour. Watching three threads will trigger your 1000 reqs/hour heuristic.

Other than archival and attack, name one reason someone would want to request every page on a board, let alone a whole image board?

For archival, chances are the operators are amenable to rate limiting. For the attack case, there are measures to be taken, but not at the application level.

For the occasional poorly written script, I'd certainly hope the traffic could be handled. If that script continues to run unchecked, treat it as an attack.

Nope. You demanded and explanation that encompassed 100% to some non-existent standard, for why anyone would do something that you already decided no one would ever do.... specifically this:
>Other than archival and attack, name one reason someone would want to request every page on a board, let alone a whole image board?

Nothing I've ever brought up has been addressed. I give you bait, because that's all you have left. Hell you, yourself, already stated that meeting devs, coders, admins, IT specialists is pointless because you already decided you speak for everyone (multiple times I might add). I mean come on man... ignore me all you want to in order to troll, but when you start ignoring yourself that's just depressing.

What little self respect you had.

>he thinks Laotian sculpting blogposts ACTUALLY AFFECT someone's opinion of them self

I've addressed the three categories of use for an imageboard:
- Normal board traffic (incl. Thread and topic scrapers), which is served as requested.
- Archival bots, which either have abide by rate limits or be classified as malicious
- Malicious traffic, which is handled elsewhere, either by IPTables, your generic WAF, or Cloudflare et al.

You're really this flustered about a rhetorical question?

Also, turning a profit isn't bad, it just simply isn't feasible. The majority of traffic that comes to the hypothetical imageboard would in all not pay for access (with exceptions, see 4Chan pass). They would also block ads, which I wholeheartedly support because of the blatant disregard for users and their preferences on the part of the advertisers. Aside from selling some other service (like ban revocations, post position, content moderation, and moderator positions), most of which are expected for free by the general image board userbase.

In short, if you want to make money, operating an image board is not a good choice for you.
>>

Can't exist.
Furfags are at their base, sexual deviants.
You can't separate content from fetishists.
This is why /trash/ is such a terrible idea. That board should be nuked, or at least made so that only five threads can be active at a time.

Trashcans should be small. Otherwise it's just a /dumpster/.

I adminned a chan. (It's still alive, I transferred it.) Here's my critique, from the perspective of a former admin:

>>51659444
I didn't have captchas. They actually didn't help as much as I thought they would.

>>51659462
Nofollow is default on most chan software, because spammers. Imgur would ban you very quickly for doing that.

>>51659518
You wouldn't be able to ban anyone. You'd get CP infestations. Not logging + Tor outproxy blocking = wtf? Ad networks are wary of user generated content especially if you have light rules you can't enforce. Adblockers are necessary security things, blocking them is scummy, don't be a dick. I didn't even run ads on my chan. Even after leaving my nest, it's still ad free. Whether that scales is a different question, but it worked more or less.

What you won't be prepared for is everyone arguing about the rules. You have no idea, people. No fucking idea. Someone tried to dox me because they were autistically arguing over it, like ... fuck? Some people have no respect, and they didn't get real dox because I've been stalked before and take precautions.

Plus I live in Britbongland. That's not a friendly place, legally, to host a chan. It moved when I stepped down.
