Refurbished pc parts: yay or nay?
>>
If you are a faggot, then yes and no.

What?
>>
Really, /g/? The only answer is a baitposter?
>>
>>51656351
Yes, if they offer a warranty (1+ years).
>>
>>51656351
I've had good luck with factory refurbs.
>>
>>51657557
What about retail refurbishes?
>>
>>51657609
never gotten one

I had refurbished netbook. Everything was good except few deep scratches on cover. Always buy refurbished!
>>
are people seriously responding to op seriously

who is this cum dumpster
>>
>>51656351
depends on what youre getting I guess.

Shit like graphics cards might be sketchy because they might've been slutted out as miners and shit like HDDs are just a DUMB investment. RAM, aftermarket coolers, etc....I'd probably fuck with that. Same with SSDs - I've had good luck with them anyway.
>>
There are some things I would never buy refurbished, such as hard disks.

Other things like CPU, I usually buy second hand.
>>

That's a cool looking typewriter she's got.
>>
I've been running a refurbished 120GB corsair SSD for over a year now as my main drive with no problems.
>>
>>51657825
Wait, you buy refurbished CPUs but not hard drives? What's your thought process?
>>

Keep it in your pants, son. That's an actual female, not a crossdresser.

GPUs, HDDs, and PSUs have a much shorter lifespan than CPUs. A consumer-grade CPU should last 10+ years, while GPUs, especially ones used for mining, HDDs, and PSUs are usually the first components to fail in a build. The used price for newer CPUs like the 4790k aren't much lower than the new price, though.

Nay
>>
They can be just fine and normal from good brand slike evga.

I wouldn't want a used HD or PSU though

I know my friend just got a refurb mechanical keyboard from corsair and the led was fucked up so he returned this week. But that could happen to a new one too.

i'm all good for refurb. but i'd rather pay a little extra for new sometimes. depends on item and price

I wouldn/t worry about it coming in shit though. you get a 1 year warranty normally..

This picture confuses me. Is the printer setup to immediately print out what she types on the keyboard, like a weird ass typewriter?
>>
>>51659609
No, it's just a stupid photographer and an even stupider model.

1 weird trick to productivity. Learn how this girl uses minimalism to outsmart geeks!
>>
Honestly, I now pretty much buy exclusively refurbs, aside from graphics cards.
>>
>>51656351
Computer nerds hate her!
Learn how this girl types directly to a printer!

HDDs are a no unless its not the primary and just an extra back up you got dirt fucking cheap or has nothing you care about on it.

Avoid PSU as if it was abused it can under current other parts and cause wear.

GPU can work if you know the source, but if its been run overly hard and has artifacting its fucked beyond repair.

Factory refurbs are fine, in fact some entire processor lines are exactly that, a high model with a core or two shut off that didn't come out right.

These can be things that just failed an inspection so got extra care, so sometimes they can be even less likely to fail than something new, if the company isn't shit anyway.
