I've installed Debian, how to install Firefox in it?
>>
apt-get install iceweasel
>>
I am not finding it anywhere, i've downloaded Firefox.tar.bz2, but i don't know what to do now.
>>
That font rendering and kerning is fucking hideous and I don't even care about fonts that much.
>>
>>51654872
>download firefox
>uninstall iceweasel
>install firefox

That was hard.
>>
>>51654931
Nigga just fucking google on it. It will give you the answer way faster and in more detail than you will ever get here.
>>
what's wrong with iceweasel?

i've got aurora on it, with a simple add to sources.list
>>
>>51654964
I suppose the only thing I can think is slower updates. Though I'm not even sure about that.
>>
>>51654924
I need Firefox, iceweasel shutdowns when i try to watch anything on Youtube.
Should i try to use this line with "firefox" instead of iceweasel to work?

>>51654942
How to do it? It's my first hour using gnu/linux.

>>51654959
I've already tried.

>>51654964
It's not working right here.
>>
>>51655001
>I've already tried.

Then google more and better. I literally did it a few months ago by googling.

If you can't even figure out how to google a simple thing like this than Debian doesn't seem like your kind of system.

Use Mint instead.
>>
>he fell for the meme
>>
>>51655030
Mint is worse, it has a lot of bugs to me.
>I literally did it a few months ago by googling.
Sorry for not being native english speaker that knows nothing about gnu/linux

>>51655039
No, i didn't install Gentoo.
>>
>>51655070
>Sorry for not being native english speaker that knows nothing about gnu/linux

Didn't stop me from figuring it out.
>>
please direct your questions to /flt/.

No need to take up a thread for a simple problem.
>>
>>51655001
>I need Firefox, iceweasel shutdowns when i try to watch anything on Youtube.

To be fair. If you get that issue in Iceweasel chances are you will get it in Firefox as well.

Try downloading Chromium until you are more acquainted with the system.
>>
>>51655130
>chromiun
WTF MAN? So if i was looking for a botnet, i would keep using Windows. I need Firefox.
>>
>>51655166
Firefox is pretty much a botnet as well these days.

Install Pale Meme or something if you care that much.
>>
>>51655166
Chromium is open source
>>
>>51655185
>>51655188
Explain me better, i never heard about Firefox not being safe, til i know, firefox is open source.

I don't have nothing to hide, but i don't need to be pursuide.
>>
>>51655249
New versions of Firefox is filled with proprietary blobs you can't remove and are useless and you don't need them.
Chromium (what chrome is based on) is open source and really good use it
>>
>>51655265
I would say neither are actually safe.
>>
>>51655265
Seriously?Ohh god, what are happening to the "freedomness" Mozilla?
So, should i use pale moon? Is it safe and works fine?
>>
>>51655249
Chromium is the open source version of Chrome. IE, a fairly botnetless version of Chrome.

Meanwhile. Mozilla, the maintainers of Firefox are seemingly doing everything in their authority to turn Firefox more into Chrome by including proprietary software inside the browser.

I think IceWeasel actually doesn't have any of that though. So really, if going botnet fee is your think you would be better of sticking with it.

And if you actually care about the botnet that much why are you even using Youtube?
>>
>>51655299
Pale Moon is kinda shit since it's so old and doesn't have that great extension support.

There's just not a good web browser around these days. You just have to choose the one that irritates you the least.
>>
>>51655308
>using youtube
Just for learning about Debian, i have no google's account.
>>
>>51654872
>>51655001
Sounds like some GPU acceleration issue.
Are your display drivers correctly installed ?

>>51654933
Easily fixable using gnome-tweak-tool.
>>
>>51655377
Now i am running Firefox from it's folder, but i can't find a way to install it, and videos are working on Firefox.
I-i don't know how to install my ATI HD6450 on Debian ;_; (Yes, i am a poorfag)
>>
>>51654931
Just linux things
>>
>>51655377
And how to check drivers on linux?

This thread is triggering me so much. Is this bait? How can OP be this fucking retarded? All this information can be found by doing a simple web search. Fuck you OP.
>>
>>51655460
Yes, my country gives me do schools, so yes, i am retarded, i also ate trash for yeas living on streets, so it made me more retard, but i am not baiting anyone.
>>
>>51655287
Point me to the line of code in chromium source that isn't safe
>>
>>51655419
Is the desktop environment smooth and animated ?
You should have a small animation when opening a window for example.

>I-i don't know how to install my ATI HD6450 on Debian
Radeons required a firmware to be loaded on boot to make GPU accel work.
You need to add the non-free repo to your apt config, then :
~$ su
~# apt-get update
~# apt-get install firmware-linux
~# reboot

See : https://packages.debian.org/jessie/firmware-linux
>>
>>51655452
Thank you, i will try that right now.

>>51655487
You are triggering me to install chromium.
Anons, is Firefox no longer so safe?
>>
>>51655492
THank you, i will thay that.
>>
>>51655492
I've got this:
E: Package 'firmware-linux' has no installation candidate
What do?
>>
>>51655551
edit your /etc/apt/sources.list
look for the lines with "main" at the end
add "contrib" and "non-free"

should look something like this:
deb http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free

run apt update and try again
>>
>>51654872
Step 1. Go to http://mozilla.debian.net/
Step 2. Select which version of Debian you're running
Step 3. select which version of Firefox/Iceweasel you want to install (they're the same. only diff is branding)
Step 4. follow instructions.

optional Step 5:
https://wiki.debian.org/Freshplayerplugin
apt install browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash
>>
>>51655626
Should i write like:
deb http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/ jessie main

deb http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian stable mais contrib non-free jessie main
?
>>
>>51655706
if you have
deb http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/ jessie main

right now
change it to
deb http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free
>>
>>51655722
Thank you a lot, i will try it now.
>>
>>51655722
>>51655738
Same thing here, bro. I already made sure that i've saved the changes.
>>
>>51655777
did you add contrib and non-free to all the deb lines and run apt update?
>>
>>51655777
What am i doing wrong?
>>
>>51655842
Yes, for all lines.
>>
>>51654872

>these fonts

Disguting.
>>
>>51656057
I got this pic from the internet.
>>
>>51655166
there is a difference between google chrome and chromium
>>
OK OP, it was fun for a while, but seriously, you need to stop. For what I have read you fell for the Botnet meme. You don't even know the difference between Chrome and Chromium, or why Iceweasel or Palemon exist, why you want to be away from Google but still using its services like YouTube, or why the fuck you decided to install Debian instead of Linux Mint or Ubuntu.

OP, the way you chose is filled with problems, much worse than this. Be fucking ready to read manuals and guides. Be fucking ready to waste your time to achieve nothing.

Seriously, go back to Windows when everything works. You don't lose nothing. Get comfy and better waste your time learning a programming language or something. You're complicating your life.
>>
>>51655632
only 40 posts before someone who's not a retard
>>
You should keep using Iceweasel and fix the issue, especially if >>51655166 is your mentality.
I use iceweasel with no problems on youtube or anything else.
