Mechanical keyboards provide so little advantage over membrane keyboards that honestly even $50 for one of them is a ripoff. The only things mechanical keyboards have over membrane are the tactile feel of the key switches (which is basically why I use them, quality of life improvement) and maybe flashy LEDs. anyone looking for a performance increase with mechanical keyboards is basically looking for a borderline placebo.

After using a mech keyboard with browns for a few years, I can honestly say there is no objective advantage in mech boards over membrane or scissor. You might prefer the feel of the mechanical, but other than that it has absolutely no advantage. In fact it might have a disadvantage because the key travel is a lot more on a mech

Mechani-fags will defend typing on asnare drum.

Go find yourself a selectric typewriter and give it a go. There is a definite advantage, but few keyboards come close. The model M is a pale imitator of the real thing and it only gets more crap from there down.

Pretty excited for it desu. It'll be my first mechanical. I know it's got Kailh blue switches but hell. For $40 if it only lasts 6 months I'll be perfectly happy.

Side note, does anyone know where to buy replacement keycaps with transparent symbol/legend?

My dad's still got a selectric typewriter sitting around. He used to use it every year to fill out quarterly reports and tax returns for his company before the age of tax software and e-filing.
