Yep. They actually cut the lowest tier. Their lowest offering is now 50/50. But they have 100/100, 150/150, 300/300 and 500/500 too.

I work as a FTTP installer for these shits, and we've now started the process in upgrading to 10G-PON, with free speed upgrades likely coming in late 2016 or early 2017.
>>

Sweet.

I honestly wouldnt mind paying for 500/500 or 1000/1000 if it wasn't literally 5x what I pay for 150/150.

Hopefully 150/150 gets bumped up to 200-300

>>
>>51652843
Okay? It's a 10 year old game i'm downloading just to test my speed to servers besides speedtest.net.
>>
>>51652821
In case of me (>>51652450), it's not really my ISPs fault and not speedtests fault either

I'm paying for 100/40, but it's some new VDSL technique that requires fairly new DSL modems. My modem however is like 5 years old and only got a patch to support 100/40 in its last breath (it was only certified for 50 before)

For some bizarre reason, when I have multiple downloads at once, I can saturate the ~90 Mbps, i.e. I mostly get 5MB/s and 6MB/s at the same time.

It just doesn't work with one single download. And I tried loads of "high-bandwidth" servers (Steam, leaseweb, local ISP, several universities, microsoft download site, dropbox, google driver, etc.)

So my solution would be to buy a new modem, but they're pretty expensive because almost no one supports this stupid VDSL feature and they all cost 200 euroshekels.

not that I don't have the money, I'm just happy with 80Mbps at the moment and I don't like throwing out old, but working tech (that modem is a beast it's running months without having to restart)
>>
>>51652814
I'm a little north. I lived down in D.C. for a while but settled up in Howard County.

All tiers are going to be doubling except 300/300, which is being pushed to 500/500.

10G-Pon upgrades will be huge. Currently the node is split 32 or 64 ways on a 2.4Gbdown/1.2Gb up, but 10G-Pon will upgrade these nodes to 10Gb/2.5Gb.

So a ton less congestion on the nodes and way more speed offerings for end users.

thanks merkuck
>>
>>51653023
Our fios service is only available in a fraction of homes though.

Most amerikeks are stuck with a shit-tier provider like comcast or at&t, and have a 250GB or 300GB cap.
>>
>>51653023
I laughed pretty hard when I read about the 10GB cap. But hey it's not all that bad right? It's only on p2p connections and filehosters :^) Vodafone/Kabel Deutschland can go suck a dick. I hope m-net won't jew me too hard coming August.
>>
>>51653185
I never had cable so I wouldn't know.

Currently have 100Mbps VDSL and I'm probably pretty well off with this compared to most other Germans

Telekom peering sucks major dick though, especially to Level3.
You basically can't watch YouTube after 6PM even though I have 100Mbps because they refuse to peer with Level3 at DE-CIX.

And in the last few weeks I've had problems with cloudfront-cached websites as well, rendering them almost unusable. Though I never found out whether this was a cloudfront or routing/peering error.
>>
>>51653155
you still have waaay more fiber than we have

also your cable providers at least give you the option for anything over 200Mbps.

Here you can almost never get anything over 200Mbps, not even from the ISP that is actually offering FTTH.

The only 2 ISPs I know that offer more than 200Mbps are regional and both serve like 5 houses.

One has a 300/30 plan and the other up to 1000/10 (lol @ the upload)
>>
>>51653263
Yeah man same for me right now. I'm with 1&1 in one house and Telekom in the other and since both are operating on the same lines Youtube is unwatchable as you said after 6PM (only 16/1 here though of which 11/1 reach me).

M-net luckily installed their own infrastracture in our village which is now all fibre but I'm still bound to contract til June/August when I will switch completely to m-net. Haven't heard anything bad from them so far but we'll see.
>>
>>51653263

Don't get me started on level3 and ISPs. We had this issue for an entire year in the U.S. with two of our biggest providers refusing to upgrade their peering points.

It made netflix and youtube unusable from 6-10 every fucking night for an entire year.

>>
>>51653309

That is depressing.

It's also important to note, the fast options over 100 are generally crazy expensive here.

300/300 is like 175$/mo, comcasts 501/100 is fucking 400$ a month.

>300/300 is like 175$/mo, comcasts 501/100 is fucking 400$ a month.
yup, the only reason I went to 150/150 was because from 75/75 it was $10/month for 100/100 or $20 more for 150/150. But to go up to 300 was another $90

Nah, those basically don't exist for home connections in the country where I live. The whole business is way too competitive, anyone trying to pull that shit off would very likely get slaughtered by the competition who are perfectly happy to give you unlimited 1Gbps internet.

I doubt it's because of a 2013 PC, my C2D laptop from 2009 can get 500/500. Probably something fucked on their side, somebody forgot to remove some bandwidth limit for you.

That's what I figured. The service tech called in to double check everything on their side and was told there were no issues.

is it coaxial, ethernet, or fiber?

When I upgraded from 75/75 to 150/150 it only gave me 115mbps at first. Told the tech installing and he said the ISP had a new policy that any speed over 100Mbps had to be over ethernet. But the router was already hooked up with Coaxial because of the previous installation and I didn't want to have to lay another cable.

So he called up the tech at the local hub and told him to switch it to coaxial even though it's against policy, the tech at the local hub said I wouldnt be getting full speeds that way. but the tech at my house said to do it anyway, so we go back and try a speed test and suddenly I am getting 152/160Mbps.

So it really could be on their end, or maybe you are splitting the signal too many times with a splitter.

Well its fiber from the telephone pole, into a splitter at my house. From the split it goes around the side of my house and comes out of the wall as ethernet.

Theyre having another tech come out tomorrow to look at it. If they can show me on their laptops that their getting 200 down ill be shocked. I just purchased a new wifi router so I am sure thats not the problem either.

what are you getting over wifi?

If you have a decent enough smartphone it should be ablt to get more than 100mbps from wifi.
