I can't say I'm particularly surprised as I've been expecting something like this happening for years already.
According to people who have actually worked there it used to be one of those really fun dot com boom startup companies where people really enjoyed themselves at work thanks to good benefits, all kinds of fun stuff to play with during breaks and an all round playful atmosphere. Then the dot com bubble burst and it slowly started getting worse and worse with the benefits and fun stuff being stripped away one at a time. Finally Mayer took over and pretty much turned the company into the kind of SJW run nightmare that /g/ is afraid of with people being hired to fill quotas rather than their skills or work ethic and pretty much everything hyper sensitive feminists may get worked up about leading to the final death in the coffin for the fun atmosphere employees used to love.
There's a reason why Google has been able to poach just about all of their most valued employees and no matter how hard SJW's like Mayer may try to promote her diversity hires, diversity is no substitute for pure talent.

Mayer was a terrible CEO. She pumped money into shitty hires and got tricked into big strategic missteps by those people.
