>you bought an amazon tablet
why /g/ why
but I didn't
>>51638531
Because it was 30 bucks and my son watches curious George and paw patrol on it
>>51638531
I almost did until I saw that amazon were pulling that $35 = £35 bullshit.
FUCK YOU AMAZON.
And then I remembered 600p, 8 Gig no SD slot and stopped caring about it.
WHERE IS MY KINDLE AMAZON.
>>51638531
to read mango and watch anime
>>51638531
funny how the twitch app is shown there but I can't install it
>>51638531
My mom wanted the 8 inch one for 150, but at checkout they tell you if you don't want the lock screen to be ads you Need to pay an extra 15....fuck no,I just bought her the iPad mini 2
>>51638563
your son watches that? my wife's son watches it too!
>>51638531
bought it for 50. Read torrented books on it. Have definitely saved money just from not buying books
Got a hdx as a gift, flashed a rom on it, pretty decent tablet considering how cheap they are.
>>51639040
where do you torrent your books
>>51639040
btw the books I torrent are (usually) textbooks for programming that are insanely overpriced.
>>51638589
It does have an SD card slot.
>>51638531
Because it was $40 and it was at my door the next day when I woke up. I'm not an autist about PPI and resolution. You can clearly tell when a screen is nicer and there's a difference of course, but I can read my books, comics and watch my youtube and porn on this shit just fine.
>>51638531
Because the first gen kindle fire is basically an OMAP 4 devboard and even the bootloader is free software
Pic related, I've ported Ubuntu and everything works
>>51639055
kickass or piratebay. I get fairly popular books so I dont have trouble finding them. Only shitty part is turning them into pdf files from epub or whatever file extension it is.
>>51639037
>my wife's son
I only use mine for pirated rulebooks for tabletop games and RPGs and shit. Literally just for /tg/ purposes, gives me all of my rulebooks free, portable, and easy to flick between.
>>51639057
Mine wont be here until around Christmas, should have ordered sooner
>>51639248
I got it via Prime Now. You should check the app if they deliver to your area. Online is sold out, but it was still available on the Prime Now app in my area.
I got a Kindle Fire as a gift like two years ago and put Cyanogenmod on it.
>>51639274
Thats cool, never even heard anything about Prime Now before. Too bad theyre back up to $50 now.
They fixed the bezel, not bad.
>>51639278
For the curious, this is from Ugoku E.C.M 2. It's a game.
>>51639072
tell more
>>51639508
>>51639527
i saw linux running on both nexus 7 models (2012 and 2013) a while ago. this looks like that except for some reason it is no longer possible with nexus 7s :(
>>51638563
Lucas?
It doesn't look all that bad, actually. Just install Play Store to it and voila. Who knows, the new Fire tablets might even get CM13/CM14 and or custom ROMS.
>>51639652
CM14
WE WELCOME YOU FUTURE TRAVELEr
>>51639022
There's a quick fix to stop those ads from coming up. Don't even have to root it.
>>51638531
I didn't. That guy selling his on Craigslist for $25 never answered my email.
>>51639072
How does the original Kindle fire compare to the current cheapo one? My consumer whorism has been looking up Kindles on Craigslist recently.
>>51639527
Hows it perform? Whats the benefit over android?
>>51639908
how do I do this?
I have a Fire HD8 but I can't install twitch.tv
is there a way for me to get the google play version?
>>51640302
I have a better solution for you, get F-Droid and install VLC and TD. That's better for twitch streams.
I watch Twitch streams in bed on my Kindle Fire.
>>51640367
ok so F-droid
then install vlc through that
but what's TD?
>>51640474
TD is a frontend. You enter your Twitch username and it'll present a list of all the streamers you follow and if they're online. You can tap them and view them live or watch a previous broadcast/highlight they've made and it'll open the stream in VLC.
I love using VLC on the tablet because you can adjust volume and screen brightness while watching the stream by swiping your finger up/down the left side for brightness and right side for volume. Super convenient as my Kindle Fire doesn't have buttons on it for volume.
>>51640566
I don't see "DT" anywhere on here https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=DT&fdstyle=grid
>>51640660
Are you dyslexic?
>>51638589
I'm sorry you missed out on a $37 tablet because of your autism
>>51640367
installed these things on my fire hd8
thanks man
now I can watch from bed
>>51640085
Too lazy to look it up but it's not hard to find. There's a article somewhere about how to add Google play along with disabling the ads.
>>51639037
Kuck.
Naaah bro. I missed it.
is this shit even 720p
I have a fire tablet. Put CM 12.1 on it and werks fine for reading and streaming. Which is about all I do on it.
>>51639022
I'd give your mom the 8-inch one for half that price.
>>51640566
Not that guy, but did you ever run into an issue where VLC randomly closes after a few seconds of stream? (20ish)
Because I bought a Nook HD+ which has better specs I think, well it's 1080p at least, and it doesn't even have a stable CM11 build. Last time I'll ever buy a tablet that relies on 3rd party support. I wish I just bought a Nexus 7.
>>51641812
Then get the new $35-$50 tablet
So many people are getting it there will be significantly more third party support
>>51641932
That's what they said last time and then support dies off for the next meme tablet when the hardware for the last one is perfectly fine. No, I'm not falling for this bullshit again.
My parents bought me the 4th Gen Kindle Fire HD 7. With fire OS 5.0.1 or whatever (I had to go through and enable the developer build for it), and the Google Play store installed and works just fine on it, so its a pretty nice cheap tablet, I guess.
>>51641320
Is it worth putting CM on it? I've never really used android at all.
>>51639037
