It's okay but I don't use it because it needs a lot of addons to be useable (which the gnome devs break every time it updates), it's bloated, and the developers constantly do retarded shit (like that shitty pressure sensitive dock at the bottom of the screen, which they later removed for some dumb shit in the bottom left corner of the screen, instead of just putting tray icons in the panel).

It's because /g/ is more hiveminded than they think, as is most of the Linux community.
It's ironic because one of the appeals of Linux is chances are your desktop is 1 in 1000, you have a choice. The problem is most 'spergs use Arch with a WM and call it a day.
If you like just a barebones system, that's fine, but I found myself less productive with a barebones system than with one. Ricing your GTK theme and slapping an anime vector on a pastel background isn't being productive.
In almost every Linux video I've seen, with people who are influential or knowledgeable, use Gnome or some variant, mostly Unity. I have yet to see anyone prolific use just a WM whilst being productive.

Gnome 3 is fine, it's come a long way and continue to improve, much like Unity. Sooner or later, the 'spergs who shit on Gnome 3 will be using it.
