So I'm thinking of getting the Fury X.

The major selling point for me is the watercooling. I can understand it appears gimmicky, but to me it makes the most sense. The graphics card requires the most cooling, but is forced to use the smallest fan diameter. Hence it ends up making the loudest noise when gaming.

Has anybody got it?
Have they ironed out all the pump noise issues?

I don't have a Fury X, but I have a Fury and it's very nice. Probably matches the Fury X when overclocked 10-15%.

I can see why the Fury X is water cooled though. If I run at an overclock on the edge of what my Fiji-XT can do (so 1150MHz), the thing will be stable if I set my fan curves to keep it in the 50s, but unstable at 81. AMD engineers probably saw this and though "why don't we just watercool it?"

Though the Sapphire Fury is almost as quiet as the Fury X under load and much quieter (silent) at idle. I've heard bad things about pump whine on the X, not sure if it's ironed out yet.

How can an aircooled card be quieter than a watercooled card?

What you don't seem to realize is that they both have fans, and one fan can be louder than the other.

Yeah, but gfx card fans have a smaller diameter, thus a smaller area swept by the fan blades. Hence they have to spin faster than 12cm fan to achieve the same air flow. Hence the higher noise level.

At the same temp at idle, an air cooled card is usually more silent because the AIO has its pump noise.

At the same temp at load, the AIO cooled card can be more silent because its fan doesn't need to run as fast.

card's fans have a lot more fins to work with
>>
>>51637909
The watercooler only has one fan, air cooled cards can have three, the 120mm fan needs to blow 3x as much air to break even so it may need to spin just as fast or even faster, and there's also fan design/efficiency, heat from the pump, and heatsink size and efficiency to consider.

>>51640036
gpu fans are around 90mm, so not quite 3x

I have one. Pumps have been changed for a few months now. Fan doesn't even make noise on load.

Also, I have zero problems at all. I had many more problems when I was on green team this generation. None now.
