I tried, but no alternatives exist for it on linux. it's actually the reason I switched back to using Windows.
IDM shows a nice little button next to any video you view. You don't have to worry about using some stupid shit like youtube-dl, which relies on a fucking list of sites that it allows. It's completely useless for when you need to download those porn videos from obscure streaming sites.
doesn't work good in wine either, so that's a no go.
