Shouldn't be hard to emulate ethernet through GPIO ports. Then All you need is a rj45 socket.

Piggybacking an 8266 on the Zero will be trivial.
I can guarantee the Zero will sell twice the number of all previous Pi's combined, if only because so many people will buy them by the bucketful.

By converting data to sound waves and back, It's possible to make networks with all sorts of things. say, an fm transmitter and receiver for example.

>>
>>51592553
In any case you're limited by Shannon-Hartley applied to your slowest link. It would take pretty robust code to change transmission on a per-link basis, especially in a platform-independent and quick way. Network drivers are typically kernel level too, this won't be pretty.

I mean think like a phone line vs monster cable 3.5mm stereo connectors. The cable can probably carry 20-44100 realistically, the phone line would only carry like 100-4000 I think, so your link over phone (limited by SNR above, which is almost definitely worse) you've got a link at 10% THEORETICAL of your fastest. You're better off just learning about the physical layer that already exists.

Additionally, a physical layer implemented over DVI or VGA would be a lot cooler desu senpai

It depends on what you're building. If you expect to build something like a regular computer then yes. However, if you plan mainly using the GPIO for some custom device (slap a small screen on it and one of those controller boards for an Arduino that have some buttons and a joystick and have it be a portable emulator for old Gameboy/Gameboy Color/GBA games), it might make more sense.

Or to put simply, if you're not building Murphy's Computer, you're building a torture device.

Standing on the toilet with a keyboard and a screen isn't suspicious at all.

Has anyone actually done this successfully?

Will it be possible to install stuff like Kodi and make it run with no problems?
I want to be able to switch the use from streaming to some other stuff.

Not unless you pay extra shekels for the codecs. Even then it won't play Hi10P so you can forget about anime.

I installed XMBC and it runs all my animes and batsus. Guess I am fine

Does this actually happen? I pulled the plug on mine quite a few times before I learned to turn it off

It's what's keeping me from installing my now redundant 64GB SD card and filling it with movies and PSone games

I tested on my Pi 2B, 720p 10 bit is fluid but looks glitchy, 1080p 60 fps stutters. Regular 1080p plays flawlessly.

If only there was some way you could use one to learn how to.
