Sasami-san is gorgeous, and it's really nice to watch too. Just the right balance of fun and calm, with a helping of Shaft's trademark obtusity thrown in. Definitely finish Barakamon, but don't forget to try Eupho too. I don't rate a lot of things nine or ten out of ten, but all of those make the list. Every OS just werks once it's set up, but installing any OS from scratch is a gamble. Sometimes you'll have drivers, sometimes you won't. All systems are equal there. Even windows will stick you with no networking and the wrong display resolution.
But windows and OS X have very little useful software out of the box, except for OS X's outdated UNIX tools, and very shitty generic drivers. in order to get to work, you must spend a while scouring the web, cloning configs, and meticulously installing programs. So, no, windows doesn't really werk. It's at the bottom of the totem pole of werk. it has some amazing options you can install, but they're not there initially. If you were in a place with nothing but 56k internet and had to get to work immediately, you would not grab a windows disk. For the greatest chance of OOTB hardware support and productive software, you would install a modern GNU/Linux distro.
This is, in fact, the sole reason GNU/linux is so popular in the less developed world.
