Yeah. It will be deprecated by Mozilla soon but you can just use a fork; be sure to save your CSS somewhere for that.
Just set your namespaces@namespace html url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
@namespace xul url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);
and then you can do your rice under@-moz-document url(chrome://browser/content/browser.xul) { }

As far as I know Mozilla is planning to trash support for styling like this.
But the namespaces are for any stylesheet ricing you want to do via xul and you'd place your actual CSS in the brackets of that last line of code.

Use a fork of firefox, like palemoon or waterfox. Honestly I don't know enough about XUL to give you a straight answer on that, but I know a lot of interaction with the firefox elements requires it as a namespace and it's good practise for non global styles.

I do freelance design on the side but that I could always, will I always do it on my desktop.
Atm most of the time I use my laptop which is where I have win 8.1 on.
And I've used Ubuntu before on laptop but since they changed the desktop interface I couldn't really get into using it again.

Arch linux. It's all really subjective to what kind of rice you want to achieve, how #neet you are and how dedicated you are to that time.

I wouldn't bother with dualbooting. Just stick openSUSE on there, go for the default KDE install, and edit it to your preference. QTcurve will let you style your windows nicely, and there are a bunch of scripts for kwin to achieve tiling or snapping (I'd suggest the latter).
