is every poster this poor?

you meant 1440p 144hz, and yes, normal 60hz ips displays are 250

Would I see a quality difference with 1080p on this monitor? Is the resolution stretched?
>>
>>51549405
why would you run 1080p on it?

Yes, big time. It has almost twize as many pixels. You can easily get by on no to 4x AA, depending on the game. Everything is much finer grained.
144Hz adaptive sync is the shit. Once you try it, you'll never want to use anything else again.

AND 2560x1440.

Which is quite different than a 27" @1920x1080.

Very few are this cheap. A reputable brand would be the same or more, unless you get REALLY lucky and MAYBE you might see $420/450-ish.

You can also consider playing refurbished roulette. Then you might see ~$290-$320 or so on open box/refurb etc. And, if you get one or two bad ones and keep doing RMA, chances are more than fair you'll get something solid by the third time around.

I've done that a couple times now and ended up with very acceptable product for similar discounts. Was also lucky, out of two monitors and two video cards, got a solid hit on the first delivery ... but, that last video card cost me a lot of time going through RMA twice.

In the end, was worth it since I saved at least $300 (if not $400) on all those items, but invested 10-12 hours of my time (above & beyond normal installation) testing & doing paperwork plus phone calls & chat sessions.

Damn, very informative. Thanks!

I paid a lot more than that for my Asus 1440p 144hz ;_;
>>
Is the 290x good enough for an MG279Q until the next generation comes?
>>
That's 500 bucks because it's 144hz, 1440p, and Freesync.

Depends on the game. CSGO, LoL, etc, you're fine, but with FO4 or GTAV, probaly not.
