Install GNU/Linux.

I read somewhere that windows always installs "critical updates" It not enough that you turn updates off.
>>
>>51548461
You literally can't. If you read the fine print next to the option to turn off updates, it says that if you leave them off it'll turn them back on automatically.

you might have some luck blocking connections to MS servers at the router level, but really what you should have done was stayed on 7.

Now it's too late.

It won't install by itself, but it will download in the background. Turn on your hidden folders, in C: there's a $windows folder for the downloaded update

Not yet.

Uninstall the updates that automatically install updates.

Can I just delete this periodically? Or will my computer blow up?

Disable the update service (wuauserv) and set it to manual startup. I don't get why people think it's so difficult to disable updates, but such is neo /g/ I guess.
