24gb of 1600mhz, or 16gb of 1833mhz?
I'm buying 16 gigs of ram today. I already have 2 sticks of 4gb 1600mhz. So I would either be adding 2 8gb sticks, or replacing my two if I went 1833.

Gotta go fast!

24GB, doesn't matter if you're actually using all of them or not, they're still a better option. Stop being retarded.
>>
2x8gb 1866mhz

down the road if you decide you need more ram then get two more sticks of 8gb 1866mhz

This.

For the vast, vast majority of people they will never use more than 8 gigs anyways, and in 99% of applications ram speed makes such a small difference that you'll never notice it.

I'm buying 16gb today regardless, but figured if I go 1600mhz I could have 24gb for the same price.

128GB of 3000MHz.

implying you can ever find exactly matching ram sticks 2 years down the line

your matriarch is vast, vast 2bh

I can still buy the same ram I got like 4 or 5 years ago when I built my computer.
>>
I have 24GB (6x4GB). Mainly because I happened to have a stick of RAM go bad on me when DDR3 happened to be really cheap.

I've never come close to using all of it.

Implying you need the exact same ramsticks

If you have four slots, 24 of 1600.

Then see if you can't get those first two 4GB sticks at 1600 to clock at 1833 while the other two sticks are installed, because you know your second two 8GB sticks *will* do 1833.

Assuming your old 1600 sticks aren't overclocked from 1333, it would surprise me if they couldn't do 1833.

toppest kek. most 3000mhz DDR4 isn't as fast as ddr3 because of this.
>>
>>51528721
why not 2 16gb 2400mhz? you can find them for like $60-70 on newegg right now

Beat this:
DDR4 2800 (PC4 22400)
Timing 16-16-16-36
Cas Latency 16
Voltage 1.2V
>>

>cl16
fucking disgusting. DDR2 is faster than that shit
latency, will surely be detrimental to even playing games.
>>
>>51532165
I'm aware the timings affect its performance, but is there some sort of formula to calculate how fast the memory will actually perform between its cycle speed and timings?
>>
>>51532806
There is a calculation to compare two sticks of different speeds and latency.

Given you have provided nothing to compare I assume you are all talk. DDR2 is a lot slower than DDR4.
>>
I think this is it.
(CAS/Speed)*1000
Lower number is better
