nvidia made it mandatory starting next month to use it for all future driver updates.
web site will only contain long term driver releases. not the newest and greatest which also means not getting the "game ready" driver when a new title comes out.

OP it's cause you have beta enabled in settings
I just updated to the most recent driver yesterday and didn't have to do this.

I'm guessing this is it. Seems like the others aren't on betas. Though like I said it's probably something I should have known but I haven't been keeping up. Works got me being overworked and haven't been on my PC in a while.
