It's okay if you're building on a budget.
I use it for a HTPC since I got it so cheap. Really it's overkill for that though. A Haswell celeron will play 1080p fine.

I have a spare G3240 Pentium sitting around so I bought a cheap Z97 board. I'm going to use it for HTPC/console emulation stuff. If it doesn't cut it I'll try the G3258.
Using it on my parents rig running xubuntu. Not OCd its fine for light use. Dad does basic photo edits, mom on fb.

How well would it handle light gaming (minecraft) and HD video? I'm only looking for a mid range build at most but will pair it with a proper GPU at some point.

Absolutely fine. I use one with 285 and pretty much all games work at acceptable frames.

It works just fine. People bashing it havent owned one. But it might not even overclock to 4.5 easily if you get bad one. Mine gets to 4.2 with 1.3V.

I don't think you'll get anywhere with the igpu, but it'll handle any game that uses two or fewer threads if you pair it with a proper gpu.

That's good for all internet and consumption uses.
You would only need to step up to an i5 or higher for muh gaymes.
