Install Gentoo

I want to try to install Gentoo. My main reason is learning more about Linux.
Should i try installing it in a VM or on my T410, which is the easiest?

If you're gonna try to install gentoo, I would seriously choose to install it in a VM first so that way if it doesn't go according to plan (or you don't like the de you chose) you can always scrap and rebuild.

i started that once but it a bit heavy as a first custom dist. So ill start with Gentoo and will hopefully make a LFS later

Probably VM is easiest. Nuke your hard drive only if you are comfortable.
