People like you still using it is what's holding us all back. Idiots will still develop using Flash because muh Flash hentai games. It's insecure, bloated, proprietary and not in line with the standards the communities have worked so hard to create.

I'd suggest you start wanking over real women on porn sites. All major ones support HTML5 by now.

Is there some way to have a self contained html5 canvas that could be used like a flash file?

Adobe could recreate flash with html5 + some kind of container.
>>
Why doesn't Adobe just fix flash?
Seems like it'd be much easier than completely trying to get rid of it.

I mean it's been around for almost 20 years.
>>
>>51470106

Flash was originally pretty quick and powerful.

Then people started finding 0 day exploits.

And they just kept finding them, and finding them.

The original performance optimized code had to be hardened to defend against every kind of attack possible. Every update after a major exploit was found slowed flash down considerably.

I think the idea behind the chrome/ff flash containers were to create a full security layer around flash and to strip the hardening out of flash itself to that it could be performance optimized again, but with a product that old and with that many features I'm pretty sure there'll be code in there from the Macromedia days. It wouldn't make sense to rebuild flash from scratch when html5 can do everything flash did.
>>
>>51470020
What are you going to do about it?
>>

this but now I just run chromium + pepper flash in an arch linux vm to watch twitch and disabled flash plugin in chrome on windows. there are so many zero days exploits found in flash I don't trust running it on my main OS.

no I rather just launch the vm so I can have everything in the browser with the custom chat extensions. also I mostly use a proxy and livestreamer doesn't support socks proxy so I have to use vlc which sucks.

Honestly, Flash professional is why Flash is still popular among animators and artists. It's just a very good and intuitive program, I loved it when I used to make games with it. ActionScript wasn't half bad.

The moment Adobe or someone else makes a real, powerful alternative to Flash Pro, Flash is as good as dead.

That's not the point. Most malware-known sources are blocked anyway by other filters such as hosts, router and even VPN's own filter.
>>
>>51475725
>No. It's because I don't have ActiveX Flash installed, only NPAPI.
So, what are you waiting for? Uninstall it and you're one step closer to enlightenment. Plenty of other websites you can visit to satisfy your sick needs.

>That's not the point. Most malware-known sources are blocked anyway by other filters such as hosts, router and even VPN's own filter.
InPrivate mode doesn't protect you from malware. Please actually read the links I sent you and understand what it *does* protect you from, although the second link greatly refutes this because M$ code monkeys messed up big time and are too lazy to resolve this. Proof of this is that Edge still has the same vulnerability.
>>
>>51475855
>Uninstall it and you're one step closer to enlightenment. Plenty of other websites you can visit to satisfy your sick needs.
Nno, not really. A lot of them don't work without Flash and don't have an equivalent.

>>51475855
>InPrivate mode doesn't protect you from malware
I never stated that. The reason why IE is in private is because that's how I set it to start.
>>
>>51476009
>Nno, not really. A lot of them don't work without Flash and don't have an equivalent.
Maybe all the obscure websites *you* visit, but mind you there's a whole plethora of websites that can give you the same content you seek without the need for Flash.

>I never stated that. The reason why IE is in private is because that's how I set it to start.
If you actually read the link I sent you you'd know that you're putting misplaced faith in a placebo. Now, I'm going to post that second link again so you don't miss it http://malwerewolf.com/2014/06/inprivate-browsing-private-anymore/ and I'll add to that another link that shows they still haven't fixed it when they developed Edge http://articles.forensicfocus.com/2015/07/27/project-spartan-forensics/

Don't use InPrivate mode. It's broken. Don't use Flash. It's broken. Don't use IE at all. It's broken. Wake up, use a different browser and start embracing open standards. You may even want to keep up to date with the W3C or some IETF RFCs.
>>
>>51476194
>Don't use IE at all.
Well, I don't use it. I just wanted to point out that there are sites which require Flash. I use Firefox, but Flash is installed for that one.
I'd like to ditch Flash, mostly die to performance issues, and the fact that Firefox reports one crash since installation due to the only plugin I have installed (which is Flash), but that would mean I'd have to ditch a lot of websites. Including VK. Whisch is weird, VK works in responsive mode without Flash, but refuses to do so in the normal desktop version.

I'm starting to think I'm talking to a different anon now than >>51474205 is that correct?

>I'd like to ditch Flash
That's a start. Be it for performance, security or non-compliancy to open standards, there more than enough reasons to kick Flash to the curb.

Some websites still depend on this monstrosity for specific elements but a lot of them are changing and adapting to HTML5. Even Twitch, that made Flash a core element of their streaming services is now switching as well, which is a huge step forward. Other websites, like VK apparently, are lagging behind but if it's only the desktop version as you say you can still get by. Hell, maybe you'll even give up on monopolistic social media companies like VK or Facebook at some point. :) (see ironic pic)

Sooner or later Flash will disappear, but that will only happen if you, we, stop using Flash altogether, because at this point it's still holding us all back. Even development of HTML5 could be improved much faster if we'd just let go of legacy and recognise better technology and open standards.

Well, they do provide free music/movies streaming so.. And I use it to talk to people.

>>

>No (:
I see. But then why post a pic of IE, with InPrivate mode, when you just said you don't use it because you're using Firefox?

>Well, they do provide free music/movies streaming so..
YouTube can at least be used without signing up. You can even use a proxy or a network anonimiser to obfuscate your identity. Facebook and VK are more restrictive. You need an account, pseudonyms are not allowed and they need to track you in order to make money by sending your data to their partners that pay for it. Free services means you're the product now, as I'm sure you've heard countless of times now.

>And I use it to talk to people.
True, but you can always choose a different platform and keep communicating. Not everyone will join, but your closest friends will. Then you keep messaging on VK and such to a minimum.
>>
>>51470521
Use an agent spoofer, they use html5 on mobile sites.
>>
>>51477823
>I see. But then why post a pic of IE, with InPrivate mode, when you just said you don't use it because you're using Firefox?
That page would have worked in Firefox as I have Flash NPAPI. I wanted a screenshot with a "flash not found" error.

>YouTube
Well, VK offers free streaming (+ download with extension) of otherwise copyrighted material. Full movies, whole albums, etc.

>True, but you can always choose a different platform and keep communicating
I try to use carrier's service of SMS as much as possible.
>>
>>51477972
>That page would have worked in Firefox as I have Flash NPAPI. I wanted a screenshot with a "flash not found" error.
Hmm, right. The plot thickens.

>Well, VK offers free streaming (+ download with extension) of otherwise copyrighted material. Full movies, whole albums, etc.
Doesn't feel like exclusive material that couldn't otherwise be downloaded be downloaded (e.g. using torrents, Usenet, and what have you).

>I try to use carrier's service of SMS as much as possible.
Not encrypted, but hey, it at least beats having corporate parties monetising your private messages. Now it's just Uncle Sam, or wherever you live of course, which could also give you the creeps.

So there are viable alternatives to both Flash and VK, but somehow people always hold onto legacy, even in light of serious vulnerabilities and invading business models. I'm just glad I'm not one of them.
>>
>>51478220
>Doesn't feel like exclusive material that couldn't otherwise be downloaded be downloaded (e.g. using torrents, Usenet, and what have you).
Yeah, I do usually get movies as torrents.
