No one thinks Gentoo is hard, it's just a time sink for NEETS.
>>
>>51445252
only retards think installing gentoo is hard.
anyone who can read and comprehend basic instructions and has some free time can install gentoo.

This.

Kill yourself OP.

Gentoo is easy to install but hard to master.

If you go the easy route then you end up with nothing better than Arch but with more time wasted.

installed multiple times in vm and on hard disk, got ssd in mail and didn't feel like going through the lengthy install process again

It's not hard, just pointless.

Those 'sensible' distros just strip out everything short of coreutils and then say its "to give the user choice" when in reality it just means a big pain in my ass, painstakingly trying to figure out what obvious feature every distro has they stripped out that I need to track down in the package manager.

Just not worth it for me. When distros like Ubuntu, Fedora, etc or Arch with a DE installed for you are easy as pie to work with.

Gentoo is ok as long as you don't try anything too advanced besides a normal install. Same with Arch. It's easy to set it up with out adding any fancy features.

But try setting up full disk encryption on them and see how easy it is then.

There's a common problem with this claim.

The incorrect use of the word "hard".

Difficulty is synonymous with ignorance. Something is difficult because you don't know how to do it. Linux is "hard" until you learn how it works. Programming is "hard" until you know how to do it. Hell, rocket science, brain surgery, it's all "hard" because you're ignorant in it.

People don't think Gentoo is "hard". They think the uninitiated shouldn't bother with it if all they need is the tools that any Linux distro, including those with a point and click installer, will give them.

As for this tool, it's neat. If it's anything like what Architect did for Arch, I'll be a fan of it. If it's an install script that assumes everything you want as default with no control or input from the user, just a base install of whatever the developer thought you wanted, it's dead in the water. Architect bridged the gap. it's ncurses options for everything you would have had to type in a command for before, without having to know them, only what you want. It takes the wiki out of an Arch install, but leaves you with a system just as clean as if it hadn't. If this tool is anything but that for Gentoo, it will be looked at my users who actually want the benefits of Gentoo just as Manjaro or Antergos are by Arch users.

That is all, good day.
