AM would be consider shortwave, I think. FM and GSM/LTE no. I'm not particularly fond of Cuban propaganda and Chinese, so I get by.

Nope, I own a Baofeng BF-F8+ but it mostly just sits around because pretty much nothing comes in. Only 2 out of the 12 repeaters in the city I live in see regular use but it's just limited to one or two brief conversations per day each.

Shit, forgot the second half of my post. Due to never really being able to use that radio I've really been discouraged from dropping the money on anything for longer range shit, as the cheapest I've seen for everything I'd need is about $350.
