I'm still rocking one of these and I have no complaints. I don't know if it's the "best" but it's certainly better than having a smartphone.

I still have a Samsung SGH-t809 that I reflashed with the firmware from an SGH-d820 in a box somewhere. Has a POP/IMAP email client, supports MS Office docs, PDF, unsigned J2ME, stereo bluetooth, pictbridge, and a bunch of other stuff T-Mobile disabled when they brought it to the US. And it's about the same size as a RAZR when closed.

Every phone is tracked with timing advance and triangulation in 300m steps, having dumbphone doesn't help at all.
Have a friend who is heavily into crime, he's using modified chinese phones with imei rotation (very expensive) so you don't have to throw away phone with every sim card change but law enforcement is using some really sophisticated software which will link new number with you based on movement and call patterns, I've been shown how this works since I was in for questioning.
And this is all in shitty slav country, can only imagine what US agencies are capable of.

I have never had a smart phone, and I'm 29 years old makes me feel lame sometimes but "big data" isn't the main reason it's more like "big fucking price data" for me. Having to watch my internet usage because of bullshit data charges? The phones are also usually pretty damn pricey too, guess I'm just a poorfag. Another main reason is that I as an american can't really get a good flip phone like the one I have similar to that that also has smarter capabilities in it like the ones from Japan. I don't need a giant ass screen let alone having to put my phone in my pocket instead of my nice little carry clip

Oh I was saying in America we can't really get them (to my knowledge) without importing them which would prob be expensive + you would have to see if it even has an English option and if it even works on your carrier's network. Yes. The government can still track you, but they probably have no reason to care about you unless you're pedo, terrorist, or druggie in which case you're screwed anyways. The low-probability, high-severity stuff will get you anyways (stingrays, white vans outside your door) so you might as well keep the ability to text your mom/gf.
The real advantage is that you cut out a huge swath of the high probability, medium-severity stuff like getting your cc details compromised or the high/low stuff like creepy targeted ads. Carrying around a networked microphone linked to your identity and credit card details makes life convenient but it comes at a cost.
