Looking for new PSU.

Or Corsair HX750i (80 PLUS Platinum, full modular) - slightly cheaper.

I own a single GTX980 GPU and a bit of OC here and there. I know it's a bit of overkill to get 750W+ but I'm also getting it for 10+ years if nothing goes wrong.

Just don't.

My current TX750 started to give me some glitchy boot ups and it worked for almost 10 years so I'm planning to replace it already.

Nigga please.

Both rated super high everywhere so the silent one is a better one.
>>
>>51410387
what? i have had bad experiences with corsair psus. i don't recommend them. simple as that.

>what? i have had bad experiences with corsair psus. i don't recommend them. simple as that.

Corsair PSUs starting from gold tier are one of the best on market (same as Seasonic since they share the same components most of the time).
>>
>>51410506
two of their 'gold tier' psus (AX 750) lasted well under 12 months each. i had the first one replaced and the second one shit the bed even faster than the last. seven years warranty my ass. didn't even bother getting it replaced to sell it off yet. i just bought another brand because i was sick of being unable to use my pc. so yeah, 2 out of 2 dead is not a good quota imo.
>>
>>51410560
they also emitted coil whine which is annoying to say the least and not unheard of with corsair and seasonic as well, i think.
>>
>>51410506
Except the RM series is dog shit.
RM, not RMi.

If you'd have to choose between en AX760 and the HX750i I'd pick the cheaper one.

Just wondering, do you REALLY need it?
Are you running SLI/Crossfire high-end cards?

I'm getting such kind of shit on my screen sometimes while booting up (bios loads up then windows 10 gets those artifacts).

I figured out that this shit http://funkyimg.com/i/23tau.png called "turn on fast startup" is causing it to fail to properly boot sometimes and with that thing turned OFF I haven't seen a single boot with artifacts on display for ~40 days I guess.

I've also tested my GPU in every kind of stress test, benchmarks, furmark, etc. The results are fine and it works fine too so I'm not blaming GPU for it.

I don't know what else can cause it but PSU.
>>
>>51410788
Well then, it looks like you're fine.
What's the problem?

If PSU is causing undervoltage on startup and you have to reboot to properly start PC up then there's a problem.
>>
>>51410901
Could be the motherboard as well.
Tough to say.
It works now, or I can't read.

Everything works now but I had to turn off fast startup thing on power management.
>>
>>51411015
That is not something worthy throwing your money at.
>>
>>51410329
Ax760i.

Avoid the regular ax series. They're absolute shit with clicking fan issues after a few months. Unless you like downtime and paying $15 every few months don't even bother.
>>
>>51411104
As a AX860 user you're full of shit.
Mine is about a year old and it's fine.
Couple bad experiences != shit psu line.
>>
>>51411104
What's the damn difference, "i" provides a corsair link software feature and nothing else as far as I know.
>>
look on johnnygurus site for a review
is it good? buy it
easy
>>
>>51411142
There is quite the difference though, different OEMs. The AX line does better on some areas, the AXi better in others.
Quality wise, negligible.

If I have some broken pins (don't shit on me please) on my MSI G43 mobo (I realized it after 2 out of 4 RAM sockets were not working) - am I in trouble? It doesn't look like anything is not working right. I even overclocked my 4670k a bit.
Games and benchmarks work well.
>>
>>51411209
If it works your fine.
Probably mostly ground.
>>
>>51411142
Much better oem. Higher quality cables, better build and overall higher quality.
>>
>>51411167
>>51411273
I feel there's a need to clarify it a bit more.
The old AX line is gold and indeed a bit lower in quality.
The newer AX line is platinum and comparable to the AXi line. Everyone knowledgeable will tell you to get the AX over the AXi if it's cheaper unless you REALLY value the Corsair link.

I don't see any difference.
Post tech specs or review.

It's not like I'm arguing with you, just can't see it myself on Corsair tech specs.
>>
>>51410387
I had one of those
Went about 4 years then it started acting funny, so I replaced it with A760 just to be safe
I had an OCZ blow up on me and would rather not have that feeling again

?

HX is also platinum.
http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hxi-series-hx750i-high-performance-atx-power-supply-750-watt-80-plus-platinum-certified-psu

I was thinking about getting HX instead because it's cheaper.
Both HX and AX 760 have basically the same specs.
>>
>>51411353
I can spot numerous differences.
You can find the reviews yourself.
>>
>>51411404
Egh, that's not what I'm trying to say.
There are "two" AX lines.
There's the older gold one based off Seasonic's X-series (KM2). Terrific power supply but it's really showing its age nowadays.
Then there's the newer one based off Seasonic's XP-series (XP2). Also quite dated but it was the best of the best at that time, nowadays still being on the very top, just not leading anymore.

That's what I was trying to say.

If the HXi is as expensive as its AX (XP2) elder brother the HXi is the better choice.
>>
>>51411353
The ax760 fan is also glitched. It turns on at 35c so if the temp constantly hovers between 34 and 35c it'll constantly turn on and off. The ax760i has a controllable fan and has a delayer timer.
>>
>>51411521
That's a good point.

Well but I still doubt my case will be quiet because it's a fucking HAF 932 with default coolers.
>>
>>51411540
You could just disable hybrid mode.
At the lowest speed it's as good as inaudible.

I think I'll get Corsair HX750i then.

It's not like I just want to waste my money or something. More like safety measures. Most likely I wouldn't even notice any difference but hey it's a PSU, not some GPU.

that's your cue. get a be quiet!
