I would also check out Lightworks if you want something you can try for free but plan to pay for later. It works really well but it only exports up to 720p until you pay for it, then it goes up to 4k.

Avidemux: absolute basics, some things don't work and you have to go through so many loopholes to get working, Linux version flat out doesn't work, only Windows work
