How much did you think Microsoft paid him to shill against SteamOS?

They don't need to pay him.
Steam OS runs on ubanto and debian.
So drivers are always outdated and slow out of the box.

>steam os runs on ubuntu and debian

50 rupees
>>51404921
Yes the Steam runtime binary is based on ubuntu's binaries while the OS they are using for the standalone OS is Debian jessie.
Get your facts.

Go back to india Carl.
>>51404841
nothing
SteamOS is dead on arrival because it's shit.
>inb4: [generic number] [generic third-world coutries's currency] habe been deposited in your [generic microsoft service] account, [generic name from said third-world country]!
>>51404963
being based and running on debian are completely different things
Nothing, SteamOS fails because of shit drivers for Linux. Something that has always been an issue. Why people are all the sudden surprised by this makes no sense at all.
>>51404984
Thx for the free shilling
>>51404996
And you are incapable of reading within the lines.
i'm watching the review right now and to me it just seems that steamOS and the machines need some more work. the review seems fair
they paid him in Windows user friendliness, usability and usefulness
>>51404841
Holy fug that box is actually really small.
>>51404870
Linux drivers are fine.
>>51405019
and you are incapable of proper english language
SteamOS is like Android. It will take over 10 years for it to get developed to a useable state, provided they manage to shill many enough manufacturers into using it by default. It will require obscene amounts of computing power even for simple transition graphics because it's so poorly optimized.
I like the idea but building anything off Linux has never produced a well optimized, butter smooth system. It's always raw edges and bits of glue and no matter how many nerds furiously try to fix it, they can't.
I was expecting bitching against linux performances but his review seems pretty legit aside from the nvidia/android shilling at the end. He does have some valid concerns (that people even here have been expressing since steamOS was announced).

>>51404870
Drivers aren't the only issue. The main performance hits come from D3D games using a translation layer to OpenGL, adding a massive overhead.
>>51405080
why the fuck do u need steam os and fancy gui/box ? I have everything on fucking linux, becose it's fucking linux, prove me wrong
