Guys how do I know which drivers should I install and which not?
Do i use some software like HWiNFO64 to recognise exactly what parts do I have or just install everything?
I don't want to make mess in PC after new Windows installation already
>>
>>51264854
Just let windows 10 install them automatically :)
>>
>>51264854
Just jumping in to ask if I can install AMD drivers and Nvidia drivers no the same systems, I don't game I just need them for multi monitor...

thanks lads
>>
>>51264894
on*

@ different cards too btw
>>
>>51264854
All three, they serve diferent purposes.
South bridge chipset, usb 3.0 drivers and ME engine driver.
>>
>>51264927
so from other sections i should install everything also?

>>51264881
it's 7 mate
>>
>>51265037
for example like Network - 18 drivers there, i dont know which ones, damn
>>
>>51265111
i feel like installing those drivers fucks up more my windows,
for example i just installed Intel graphics and sound stopped working
>>
>>51265217
>>51265111
you should only install a driver if something is not working, W7 usually install a standard driver and normally it should just werk.
Then you go look if your usb3.0 is working at full speed, if wifi and ethernet are working, if you can change screen resolution etc, if not then you install a driver.
>>
>>51265279
how do i look if usb3.0 is working at full speed?
also speed of wifi ?
>>
>>51265442
What is your storage?
HDD or SSD
>>
>>51264854
Read the drivers name to determine what it is. Multiple of the same driver? Choose the one that is labels with your OS and is the latest version. Don't install bloat, examples of this are multiple audio "drivers" and a lot of Intel shit that has an obscure name.

When in doubt just install chipset, network, audio, USB and video if you don't have a dedicated gpu.
>>
>>51265442
check the speed difference doing some file transfer to a usb stick.

the wifi should just work or not though
>>
>>51265111
That's why you go to device manager to see which parts you have and then pick the right driver based on that.
>>
>>51265522
>video if you don't have a dedicated gpu
Just a quick question,not op.
I never had a dedicated gpu so my knowledge is very less.

In xp i needed to install vga driver, but if i had a graphic card would the internal vga driver still be needed or only the nvidia/amd driver?
>>
>>51265506
SSD
>>
>>51265631
Do you have any external usb3.0 hdd or pendrive?
>>
>>51265721
no, why
>>
>>51265626
Depends on the CPU, but generally no you don't. There are cases where you would install it and that is if you're using that hybrid feature on Intel cpus to take over and shut the gpu down to save power or whatever the amd equivalent is. Though I don't think anything prior to haswell had that.
>>
>>51265759
For testing if usb3.0 works or not.

Nevertheless, here's the deal.
Try making some large >4gb transfers using usb3.0 ports on your system to any external device, preferably usb3.0 device.
If the transfer rate are >100 -400 MB/s ,then usb3.0 working correctly.

>>51265840
Remember, pic related is usb3.0 port (blue)
>>
>>51264910
It should work fine
>>
>>51265810
I also had a few other questions about graphic cards.
Would you mind if I ask,not too busy are you?
>>
>>51265907
Not busy but I might not have all the answers. But go ahead.
>>
>>51265810
But if the power saving mode turned gpu off,
And monitor's input is gpu's output, won't the display be turned off too?
>>
>>51265942
Mind if i made a new thread?
>>
>>51265951
Your OS has basic display drivers that explain how to use the hardware to draw to the screen. The drivers you download are ones specific to the model of the CPU so they are a specialised set of instructions compared to the default and provide much more graphics performance. So no your screen won't be blank, but it would be running at less its capacity, also I'm pretty sure to use that feature you need the cpus vga driver installed.
>>
>>51265962
Just dump them all here. It's more or less a drivers thread
>>
>>51266118
>specific to the model of the CPU
I'll have to correct you here buddy,

Internal graphics drivers are chipset/motherboard dependent .
Mine for example is intel gma 82945gz .

When you say CPU you mean processor right?
>>
>>51266210
>>Internal graphics drivers are chipset/motherboard dependent .
Intel recently changed that, now most intel CPUs also have the GPU on them.
>>
>>51266210

>>51266267
This, used to use motherboard but all the consumer chips are apus now. That's what Intel integrated graphics are.
>>
>>51266267
Damn.
My knowledge is being seriously hampered due to my 2007 mid range gear.I wonder how I'll brush up.

Does that means that like my motherboard, asus P5GZ-MX, has ~200 mb of graphics memory due to intel gma 950, recent motherboards have no onboard graphics, only cpu have it?
>>
>>51266399
Nice dubs

Also yes, most modern boards won't have graphics any more
>>
>>51266435
Ok so back to the power saver mode,

If a pc has one dedicated graphic card then,
Video output is by a single wire connected by monitor input and gpu output,is this right?
>>
>>51266517
Yes. You only need the one monitor cable plugged in.
>>
>>51266607
So as you said in >>51265810
If power saver turns off gpu wont the screen be blank?
>>
>>51266656
No, gpu just acts as an extension cord. It's the same as when you reinstall windows, you can still see the screen even though you haven't installed any drivers. output is sent from CPU to gpu to monitor.
