So xfce's development is so dead it's not an option anymore, but it way of working is so nice, it's modularity, it's (not any more) lightness
But it's so full of bugs...
So alternatives? Please, not development dead ones
How is mate in comparison?
>>
>>51260153
use lxqt. Its intended to be fully modular and is very actively developed.
>>
>>51260153
Lxde ?
>>
>xfce development is dead
well no shit have you been living under a rock?
>>
>>51260174
Is lxqt compatible with gtk themes? To reuse my xfce ones
>>
>>51260153
dev is slow, not dead
it's always been like that
>>
>>51260153
kde
>>
>>51260184
>>51260193
It's so slow that bugs like tumblrd crashing in a loop or xfwm being that shit with vsync has been there for... Always?
>>
>>51260189
qt in general is. You just have to set an environment variable to use GTK themes for qt5 and check the option in qtconfig for qt4
>>
>>51260208
Never went into that strange DE, it's so far from the simplicity of classic gnome...
>>
>>51260229
classic gnome is dead, just let it go
>>
lxde how is this even a question
>>
>>51260241
So xfce, mate, lxde and lxqt is dead
>>
>>51260251
yes, just use kde
>>
>>51260250
Differences between xfce and lxqt?
>>
>>51260176
lxde is near death. It's on bugfix-only life support until lxqt is ready, then it's a goner.
>>
>>51260262
So the only living DE is kde
Is this the new meme?
I think I'm back to the terminal era
>>
>>51260153
I thought development reved up again and it was being ported to GTK3?
>>
>>51260282
Its faster but still deadish
http://git.xfce.org/
>>
>>51260280
its not a meme, besides unity, kde is most updated de, deal with it
>>
>>51260299
Shame. It's a good DE it just needs more polish.
>>
>>51260299
well, translations mostly...
>>
openbox you fagget
you literally don't need a de
>>
>>51260435

>more polish

god damn it I hate you ricer fags so god damn much
>>
>>51260834
>you literally don't need a de
tell me something new, son
>>
>>51260208
it's so ugly and buggy it's not reliable for work
>>
>>51260251
lxqt is not dead you moron
>>
Cinnamon

Just use mate or cinnamon
>>

dwm is the best wm.
>>
>>51260153
>But it's so full of bugs...
On the contrary, I find it quite stable.

>development dead
Or perhaps it's just mature.

>>51260306
Yet both Unity and KDE are the least stable.
Unity has memory leak problems, Compiz becoming sluggish after a few weeks, and random processes crashing or hogging 100% cpu for no reason.
KDE 5 is even worse currently, but could become better within a couple years.

Who /Cinnamon/ here?
>>
>>51261324
Dunno, I don't suffer from these bugs.
>>
>>51260280
just use awesome like the rest of us
>>
>>51261333
haven't suffered the bug of the tumblrd, when you delete a file from the desktop and it stays frozen for a couple of seconds?
>>
>>51261325
Ewww, it has more than one panel.
>>
>>51261347
Not him but no, however xfwm vsync is shit but that is easily fixed.
>>
Either ditch xfce for Mate or wait for lxqt. I recommend Mate. It's a rock solid, conservative desktop experience
>>
>xfce's development is so dead

Oh look, it's this shitty meme again
>>
>>51260277
Is it a merger between Razor-QT and Lxde?
How close is it to a release?
>>
>>51261940
see for yourself...
http://lxqt.org/
>>
>>51261955
does lxqt have the shitty "bug" of xfce of having only 1 pixel of resizing border (depending of the theme chosen, but if your theme has a 1 pixel border, thats the border of resizing, making it almost impossible to resize unless you right click > resize)
>>
>>51260212
>shit vsync
Try using compton instead of xfwm's compositor.
>>
>>51261986
If lxqt has it or not, i don't know, since i haven't tried it out (waiting for it to arrive in lubuntu). But i recall xfce fixed that issue in v4.12.
>>
>>51260265
Literally everything.
>>
>>51262298
They gonna call it "LQubuntu"?
>>
>>51261325
how did you installed leageu on ubuntu ?
>>
>>51260913

point

>>
Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate,
>>
MATE desu f a m. It's comfy as fuck
>>
>>51261986
>making it almost impossible to resize unless you right click > resize

Now what a nonsense
>>
>>51265348
But that's true, and certainly the most annoying thing with xfwm.
>>
>>51263849
>>51264934

Just as fast as xfce but a fuckton better.
>>
Just because they don't come out with new versions every second doesn't mean it's dead.

It's just feature complete at this point.
>>
>>51260174
What good openbox themes can anyone suggest then? The default ones are *less-than-satisfying*. Or do you guys even use openbox with lxqt?
>>
>>51260858
>not wanting to customize the way your desktop works to suit your personal needs
ok buddy
>>
>>51260153
Installed XFCE this morning, for the first time. Really encouraging Anon, thanks.
>>
>>51260212
Use compton nigger
