HI guys, I'm looking for a decent portable drawing medium, particularly a tablet.

I really need to rely on the portability part, so I'm emphasizing on the weight more. Thus the wacom tablet series and anything heavier than surface pro 3/4 are not in my concern.

Currently I'm laying my eyes on ASUS Zen Pad S 8.0, along with a TP 1024 stylus. but also wonder if there's any better alternatives.

Thank you.

Toshiba Encore 2 Write. Wacom Penabled.

Also these Wacom PCs have 256 levels pressure sensitivity interpolated to 1024 levels. Still more than enough for most drawings, and good drawing software have their own infinite level interpolation.

Asus Vivotab note 8.

A shame they discontinued it.

Had FULL windows on it instead of lagdroid AND a wacom digitizer.

the thing was probably too special for normies to appreciate.

Try a Cube i7 stylus / iWork 11 these days

OP here,

I restate that I'm really in need to emphasize on the portability part, so weight is my concern.

I own a Surface Pro 3 now but with the gadgets it weights more than 1kg.

Thus I'm looking for tablets that are lighter

Trust me, if you go smaller than 10 inches, it's just going to be a pain in the ass to draw on.
I'd say just deal with it and keep your SP3 and stop needlessly spending money on shit you don't need.

I've been drawing on a note 4 for a long time now with no issue.

It depends on your approach to drawing.

When I do traditional media, I draw on 6ft by 6ft canvases all day long, but I treat the phone much more like a sketchbook.

And honestly, why would you need more than a sketchbook on the go? Are you actually going out and doing full life drawings?

Nah, digital sketches are shit. I just hate the idea. It feels like nothing. It needs to be physical. I could never invest my time in any digital art like that, even if it's just quick sketches that I throw away anyway. No idea why I feel so strongly about this, but I simply couldn't do it. A physical drawing, no matter how small contains just infinitely more information than any digital painting. It has so much more depth.

True, which is why I don't do any serious work that way.

There's something so inherently satisfying about being sprawled across the floor, taking care not to drip sweat as you brush your arm across from the shoulder.
Digital media will never capture this.

Real drawing is in the arm and chest, not the wrist.

It's great for doodling and drawfagging, though. They're shit, but at least it's convenient.

I have an intuos pro small that I got for free. It's all right, but a little small. It has wireless, but I've never used it.

this is supposedly a good option. Just note it's Wacom AES, not Wacom EMR. So it requires a battery

>>51255652
i heard good things but would think that 8" is a bit small for drawing, especially since it's 16:9.
Even the 10" surface pro 1&2 are borderline too small

>>51255816
I'm skeptical of a chinese tablet like that. at 10" I'd be looking at a Surface Pro 1/2

Sounds like you might want >>51256732
It's expensive for what it is, but looks to offer breddy gud drawing experience

>>51258042
I don't think Android is really viable for drawing. At least iOS has Procreate

>>51258408
Agreed physical > digital, but digital still has its place

Personally, I'm leaning towards a Surface Pro 4 over the iPad Pro. Just waiting on some more artist reviews on the thing. N-Trig used to suck but it's supposedly improved

How important is tilt recognition?
>>
>>51261937
I know people with Cintiq's who never use it. So it's likely a bit of a gimmick
>>
>>51262258
tilt recognition isnt nearly as imp as rotation recognition w/ the art pen
>>
i'm guessing you can't buy new surface pro 2's?
i've never bought a used piece of tech; are there any better alternatives to ebay for this?

If I were you I'd get a companion with windows on it for portable.

I like 22hd better for myself tho.

I have intuos 4 medium, tilt is great with some cool contour brushes but it depends on the artist and his/her software preference.

>I'm emphasizing on the weight more

OP keep in mind the pressure sensitivity, screen quality(especially for outdoor use), screen size, software compatibility. also keep your head up for the lagging issues.

each of these problems would kill my user experience on it's own.

I'd really consider the wacom companion with windows because of these reasons.

also don't buy before you try.
