Is it really just a meme fan or is it any good? Personal eperience?
If it's bad, are there any good alternatives?
i got one. its quiet and nice. no overheats yet
>If it's bad,
Yes, it's bad.
All of those thousands of positive reviews are just a clever ruse!
What do you mean it comes up every time budget cooling options are discussed? Also a ruse!
>>51244459
have it for almost a year, it's awesome for the price
>>51244459
They're big fuckers.
I don't know, but where I live I can only find 212 X. Not the 212+ nor the EVO. What's the difference?
>>51244459
It's a pain in the ass to install.

Is better than it.
It's cheap and it works. But nowadays most coolers are good enough.
>>51244459
I like mine. I can't hear it over my hdd spinning if that gives you any idea.
>>51244459
Easy to install if you're not a stupid nigger like >>51244625
Cheap, very, very effective.
>>51244625
True, the fastening brackets are terrible
>>51244459
Quiet as fuck
Keeps my 4690k clocked at 4.0ghz in the low 40s. I fucked up the thermal paste application but cba to fix it so its probably more hot than it should be even though 40 is pretty damn low.
Where I live it's so popular that they increased the price so now it's a really bad deal here. Can get a Scythe kotetsu for the same price
It's great for the price. With cooling solutions you either go cheap (Hyper 212) or you go all out on an expensive, elaborate watercooling solution.

If installing a backplate is that tough for you (or if you have one of the ITX m/b's that has chips on the back where the backplate would go), just get the TX3 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103064

This
>>51244459
It's good and it comes with a second fan mount so you can put two fans on it for MAXIMUM POWER
Its pretty good but its been out long enough to where alternatives that are similarly priced or cheaper may perform the same or better. I just dont know of any
>>51245502
The Hyper T4 somewhat gets close to it as an alternative. It's about ~3-4C difference, pretty much the same price.
>>51244551
It's smaller than a Noctua.
It's quiet.
It works very well.
It's cheap.
Would buy again but don't need to.
The Cryorig H7 is better in every way at that price point.
>>51244459
I use a Hyper 212+ on a 1090T (125W) and it is great.
Very quiet with good temperatures even after 5 years of use with just the stock fan.
IMO the only reason to buy any other air cooler is if you are using a tiny case where it doesn't fit.

I think X is the newest of them, like the latest revision or some shit, should be better than evo
>>51244459
Replace the fan with the FP-120 or NF-F12 and it'll be fine.
It's useless if you're in a high humidity, high temp environment aka the tropics though.
>>51246958
second this. just installed it in my new skylake build and its been going on sale recently
>>51244459
There's a new 212, so that's probably better than evo, but they are fuckhueg, some cases might have trouble fitting them
>>51244597
The newest is the Hyper 212x TURBO
>>51247116
>>51247077
Nah, the one I have here is this

>>51244658
Basically any cooler that's going with that standard design is going to be perfectly fine if it's got decent paste and good airflow, there's a reason the design has barely changed
My giant Xigmatek from 2008 has been doing a great job spanned over 3 different CPU's, and has rarely went over 40° in it's history of use, same fan ever since then too

>>51247086
What the fuck does humidity have to do with CPU cooling nigger
>>51247247
Is this a real question
>>51247291
It's not a question. It's a statement because what you said is fucking retarded.
>>51247303
>humidity
>having nothing to do with ambient temps
>>51247844
It improves thermal capacity of air if you're wondering.
It has literally no other thermal effects on computer electronics.
