Not muh games!

Right in the feels. I have an ancient GPU (AMD 4670 HD) and I'm trying to get a used 7770. And people here are buying i7s like it's nothing...
>>
Just buy a ps4 then
>>
>>51242986
Save up, mate. It took me a full year to get my PC (2500K, 560 Ti).

Once you will get a job it will get easier. Or if you have one, stop wasting money.
I live alone and make £14k a year, yet I save half of my salary each month.

i have rendering needs personally, also, my 955 black kind is the minimum for gameing anymore, it bottlenecks me more than anything else.

Something to max out most games on 1080p (stuff that is not Witcher 3 and Crysis 3) would cost ~USD$300-$350. A 250X (rebranded 7770) is $100, so you can expect ~1/3 of the performance that is needed.

I don't really want to max out. I would be glad if I could play GTA 5 and Witcher 3 on medium at like 30-40 fps. Which GPU would you recommend for that? My CPU is not the best, but I guess it'll do the job and I also have 6 gigs of RAM.
>>
>>51243233
Well, I guess that I can only afford a used 7770... What would you recommend in that price range?

The 280X is about ~$220, double the price of a 250X. You can expect to get pretty good performance on 1080p in most games.

280/285/380/960 are a bit cheaper, and also quite suitable for mid-range 1080p gaming.

I dont know how old you are my friend, but ive been here. And you know what the worst thing is?

Like I said I was like you and most people posting in this thread. Used to have a 4670 upgraded it with lots of trouble to a gtx 460 but still had the shitty CPU.

2 years later I got a job that pays quite alright (€35k/year). After a few months of saving I was able to buy a mid/high end gaming pc last year. I bought all the parts; Fractal r4, i5 4600k, gtx 770, 850 evo you know the drill OC'd the i5 with arctic cooler and build it all myself

After turning turning it on and installing 8.1 I was haply as a child. I installed some games that were the most demanding back then like crysis 3 and metro. I literally played both games for 5 minutes and then I uninstalled them again. All I do these days is play csgo when i have time to play but I barely ever play demanding games. What im trying to say is, when I finally moved up in life and had the money to buy a pc that could handle nearly everything, I wasnt that gamer that I used to be.

I wrote thid wall of text because I guess this will happen/has happened to most of us.

I5 2500 and hd 5870.

These days most gains are reduced thermals and energy consumption, with a few extra fps. Nothing major except in the enthusiast tier.

My 5870 still gives me 75-85 fps in battlefield 4 multiplayer with a mix of medium and high settings at 1600x1200.

The difference in high and ultra just doesn't justify dropping the $150 on a used 7950 for me when my 5870 still works just fine.
>>
>>51243716
Close, but no. Serbia actually.
>>
>>51243766
Well, I've looked up the prices and the used 7970s are not cheap. I guess I'll just get a used 7770 or something in that range. All I'm looking for is a decent price to performance ratio.

already looking to compare prices but holy shit, the taxes in europe are insane. I look at newegg and everything there is 20/30% cheaper than in the netherlands.

I feel sorry for you guys in shittier countries because you guys earn less but pay even more than us for computers because of shitty import standards.
>>
>>51243811
7870?
Or 7950.
7950s are something like 50-70 dollars cheaper than the 7970s even though they perform almost the same.

If you're buying amd get gcn at least.7850 or 7870 would be the minimums I'd recommend.

Hd 7790 2gb (260x) if you want to go really cheap, but please nothing less, for your own sake.

Anon, you shouldn't settle for less than a 7870 or 7850 if you can. Don't upgrade now if you can't afford it, save up a little longer. One month of waiting won't be too bad, especially if that month is the difference between a 7770 and a 7870 or 7950.

Also heres how cheap a skylake i7 is over here.
