Pretty fucking sure the point of the device is to work flawlessly on a task and you are able to move it from one place to another, which can't be done on a desktop.
If moving it around would be the main thing people would suggest a tablet or even better, a phone. You need to be able to use it without getting a feeling that its limitations are getting in the way of work.

The entire point is to be able to bring it somewhere where you can't bring a "conventional" system, and then put it on a flat, stable surface to use it.
If 3 lbs is a serious problem to you, you should probably consider not using a shitty bag, lifting a little, or just buying a fucking iPad since having a computer capable of actually accomplishing something other than watching movies in bed and dicking around on facebook is clearly not what you are looking for.
