What the fuck do you want you asshole. I'm happy with 30mbps down 5mbps up with 20ms ping, and I don't think there is a cap as I've never had any throttling, my isp also doesn't care about torrents. I can watch 1440p without lag and download 1 gb under 5 minutes and that's good enough for me.

Poor bugger, all the best with maybe getting decent broadband nbn eventually. I know that one isp (activ8 me i think?) actually has nbn via towers, fixed wireless they call it (similar to 3g), and offers 25/5 and unlimited data for like 80 a month, see if its possible to get on that (they use repeater on your house directly to the tower and apparently proportion the bandwidth based on the number of properties for equal share). Otherwise hopefully normal nbn will roll around there.
>>
>>51242849
Look up a place called Tully, dude. Two an a half hours north of Townsville, two hours south of Cairns.

NBN isn't slated to begin here for another 18 months. We were going to have Fixed Wireless, but not that's been removed, meaning we'll have to go on satellite. Furthermore, even IF we had a working ADSL/copper cable connection, that gets disabled permanently when the NBN is turned on.

Australia is fucked when it comes to internet. And I don't like the outdoors much, so I can't even compensate with the great beaches and weather.
>>
>>51242873
Tully? I have an Auntie that lives up there. She hasn't been complaining about the internet speed too much (though she's over 50 and uses it for emails and that's it). You on adsl2+ atleast? what's the issue there, just exchange poorly divisioned/overloaded? If you poor buggers have to go satellite that would truly suck.

Oh? What's her last name? Might know her - it's a tiny place and I work for the paper.

The issue is simply that the DSLAMs are way congested and Telstra won't do dick to provide backhaul relief. There's like double the amount of people to available ports, and has been since before Cyclone Yasi. Apparently the net here has been shit for over a decade, whereas I only moved here at the start of the year.

Last name is Rose i think, she's my auntie from South Africa, trying to move over here to sort of start again, too much crime, people dying and risk of being shot and shit back there, she's just had enough of the living in fear and loves how friendly people are and the overall safety and just general lifestyle of Australia (fairly nice weather, nice people and the safety). If only you could get the residents to raise a stink and have telstra come and upgrade the infrastructure. But apparently they just don't give a shit about a lot of their infrastructure, they've gotten lazy with maintenance and all. I actually consider myself kind of lucky to even be getting the full speed of cable, our house is literally last on the line, and there's hfc all over the area but i guess most people don't know it exists so they stick with adsl2+ (we're too far from the adsl exchange to use it, which is i guess a blessing otherwise we'd be lucky to get probably adsl1 speeds). That and that the line seems to be in good condition and reasonably maintained. Apparently in some areas Telstra was just covering the pits with plastic packets to try keep water off of some of the cables that were being corroded to shit.
