What is best non-smart tv out there?
Budget < $500

I don't need it to be smart because I will be using either AppleTV or Roku all the time anway.
>>
There really is no best TV, just look for resolution and size, increase in price usually is just because of the brand name. I got a 32 inch 1080p insignia tv for $130

Wow, that's nice due. Here I'm looking for $500 dollars 40" TV. Damn!
>>
>>50815955
I got a 50 inch element TV for 200 dollars. The colors and black levels were really, really shitty. OP, make sure it has a decent display before you buy it.

That's the reason I'm trying to stick to Samsung.

been thinking about getting this. not sure since the input lag is about 38ms which isn't bad but isn't good either.

Hmm, reviews are not that bad.

You can still get some great deals on plasmas. Stores that still have any are trying to dump them ASAP. I bought my grandma a 65 inch Samsung at Sears for $475 plus gas to Atlanta to pick it up. If you manage to find a Panasonic I'd grab that motherfucker up and run. Panasonic made the best plasmas period, but they got out of making them earlier than Samsung and LG, so they're more rare.

Plasma is superior to LCD/LED despite what you've probably heard. HD4k is a completely different matter, but you're not getting a decent one for $500. On the other hand there's not much HD4k content available yet either, so you're not missing much at the moment.

I agree. Plasma with 1 HDMI would right for me. Thanks man! I'll look into it.

I found the one I bought on the Sears Surplus website. They list new, open box, refurbs, and floor models on there, so be careful if you don't want anything but new.
>>

Could you share the link? The only one I've been able to find is
http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Viera-TH-46PZ85U-46-Inch-Plasma/dp/B00142MUEC/ref=sr_1_17?s=tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1444868433&sr=1-17&keywords=plasma+tv+panasonic

Quite expensive
>>
jelly as fuck for all of you guys that got plasmas on closeouts.

i've had a big 1080p for a while so i can't justify buying a plasma, my next one will be an OLED 4k, the cheapest best panel version i can find.

waiting on next gen gpu's first though.

>>50816707

you'll have to look on craigslist, but people that have viera plasmas know the demand and price them as such. i think the key was getting one when people thought they were junk tech due to being discontinued.

I needed two new TVs when I bought this house a few months ago. Didn't need anything fancy as my good stuff is in my own little home theatre/PC desk cave.

Two Insignia's from Best Buy. 50" was $399, 40" was $249. 1080p for both. Couldn't be happier.

One I found is 1300 miles away :)

Sorry that's Sears Outlet, not Surplus: http://www.searsoutlet.com/

The bad thing about it is, at least from what I saw was that you have to pickup pretty much everything. They supposedly will ship things that are actually in Sears Outlet's own facilities, but everything I looked at was located in specific stores. Your probably going to be limited by how far you're willing to drive.

Plasma or LED?>>50816854
Yeah

>>50816873
LED

I got a 48" 4K Samsung smart tv for 599€ last week. First 4k screen in the house and I have to say that the 1080p upscale is really well done, because the quality is amazing on HD channels.
