SSD Appreciation Thread
What do you currently have? Satisfied? Think its just a meme with placebo effects?
How do it compare to HDD's in Raid arrays?
Currently I have a budget 120gb PNY, AS SSD results around 400MB/s read 300MB/s write. Other drive is a standard 1TB 7200rpm HDD.
I dont quite have enough space to store all my applications and really there's such a huge difference in speed between the two I'm thinking of picking up at least a 240gb SSD I really dont want to use a HDD at all anymore but cost is a huge factor.
I ran the extraction three times on both drives, it actually sped up on the HDD from almost 30s to about 20s so not sure how, but the ssd is the clear winner with about 3 seconds

Sorry about the black borders not sure where they came from....

Picked up a PNY CS1111 120gb from best buy for like $40 on sale + $10 off in reward points, Best thing I've ever bought there.
I would love something that does 500/500 but really I don't deal in large files usually, just really appreciate muh game load times
I put a $45 sandisk 128gb SSD into a sata2 laptop and manage to get 150MB/s sustained write speeds.
SSDs are a meme.

Comparison, some 1TB seagate ive had forever ans is throwing up errors in crystal disk mark so it may go at anytime.
Its taking forever to finish so im not going to let it.

Care to post a benchmark and model of the ssd?
150mb/s sustained sounds suspiciously like max Sata 1 speeds, but I'm sure its totally not user error.

Tell me how to do it on linux and I'll gladly post one.
>>50812295
sure let me just get the spoon and some napkins because I think this feeding is gon be a messy one.
>you "know" your ssd is hooked into a sata 2 port
>you "know" its max speed in your pc
>but you dont know how to run said benchmark and you don't know how to look up your hardware

Yeah, basically.
I don't care enough to install software on my computer for the sole purpose of dickwaving on /g/.
I got that figure from real world use, copying large folders to and from the drive, and then duplicating it to itself.

lol ok welcome to /g/ enjoy your stay, feel free to keep the /SQT/ tab open at all times, you will need it.

cmooon there's no other SSD discussion thread on /g/ atm, lets talk Solid State Drives
Sata or PCI-e (for you richy richers)
Apparently ek has a water block for the intel 750 series pci-e
