Quick question :
Mplayer said that my system is too slow. Does mpv improvements will fix that, or it will be worse ?

When will mpc-hc be forked to linux?

In the time you've spent waiting for an reply you could've already tested it a hundred times.
But here, I'll give you the only legitimate answer one could possible give with this little amount of information: maybe.

Also, what is DESS supposed to mean?

Probably never, because madvr is proprietary.

Or at least properly I should say.
But why would you use it in the first place with mpv around?

Well, looking at the IRC talk during the last days it looks like haasn moved on to image manipulation software (krita, gimp, ...).

Really? That's too bad. I was really looking forward to this integrated mvtools things, even when it would've taken a bit of time to complete.

he forked sxiv well before working on mpv.

He came from image software in the first place.

#mpv-player is moving to #mpv (soon-ish)

I got freenode to register the channel to us instead.

Never. MPC-HC is simply too much entangled with DirectShow.

I've made simple script to encode webms: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/webm
It has interactive mode to cut/crop video region and dump current track info using mpv.

You can add a context menu to open videos in mpv in firefox with the open with addon. How is this different from it? Someone made a greasemonkey script to add a button on youtube pages to open the video in mpv too. There's also mozplugger to play the video in firefox with mpv.

Nice job just losing a potential user by dismissing their argument out of narcissism
Don't assume I use MPC-HC because of that, either. I use Baka MPlayer.

This kind of timing fine-tuning is useless without RetroArch style DRC. I hope it's preparation for that.
>>
I have two profiles, one for livestreamer and one for local files. Can I switch between these with a hotkey? And does appending --profile=[profilename] to the livestreamer config, i.e.
player="S:\Program Files\mpv\mpv.exe" --profile=livestreamer
work?
>>
>>47663050
>fine-tuning
You what. That’s not “fine” by any means, it’s a whole frame off. Without that hack mpv won’t always be at the same frame with --start {time-pos}
>>
>>47663107
>it’s a whole frame off
Which happens frequently even with this fix because you're not using vsync as the master clock.
>>
>>47663195
No, because neither time-pos nor --start have anything to do with vsync.
>>
>>47663076
you write your two profiles in mpv.conf, then launch mpv with --profile, yes.
>>
So is there any smooth motion with MPV yet?

It's been out for a few months m8
>>
>>47663341
Where is it? On mobile so can't do much
>>
>>47663341
It hasn't, only frame blending. That reduces judder, not blur.
>>
>>47663351
http://mpv.io/manual/master/#video-output-drivers-interpolation

There's smoothmotion-like using oversample for tscale, you can use a few other filters like mitchell
Haasn was working on SVP/MVTools like frame interpolation, but he's kinda stuck on it

Halp, how do i play x265 videos on mpv? I've installed the 265 libraries but to no avail. I've searched the master manual but i can't find anything about x265 playback

Total noob here.Installed mpv because it's pretty fast opens with youtube-dl and is opensource.
Anyway I use this vo=opengl:smoothmotion:smoothmotion-threshold=0.0

Should I disable this and use tscale? If so how?
>>
I missed all the dev drama, did haasn and wm4 settle their differences? Is haasn still banned from upstream mpv?
>>
>>47661687
How does interactive mode work? Use the mouse to define the area, then press for c for start and stop then what?
using windows btw
>>
YOu know how these threads would be helpful? If someone could post in the OP whether or not it was safe to update from the git repo for mpvhq.
>>
>>47665469
You don't need x265 (the encoder) to play h265 (the codec) content. FFmpeg supports *de*coding h265 since 2013, you might want to update your libraries.
>>
>>47666333
it is, using it atm (on windows)
>>
>>47665952
For cut: rewind to the start of fragment, press "c", rewind to the end of fragment, press "c" again. You should see the message in the OSD.
For crop: select the crop area with mouse or with keypad keys and press "KP_ENTER". You should also see the message in the OSD.
Once you defined cut or crop, close the player, script should show your latest cur/crop settings one more time and ask whether you want to proceed.

So, yeah. I get flickering when I turn the OSC on. Not sure why. It doesn't bother me that much because I use the keyboard to navigate anyway but it's annoying because when it flickers the bottom of the video flickers too. I just keep it disabled.
Anyone ever had that happen?
>>
>>47665887
>did haasn and wm4 settle their differences?
Yes.

>Is haasn still banned from upstream mpv?
He doesn't have write access back, but that doesn't matter because he sends pull requests.

I'm pretty happy with how the whole thing turned out. Haasn still uses mpvhq as his playground for new features, but him and wm4 are on speaking terms and his features can be merged upstream.
>>
>>47666889
You don't have any alternative OSCs installed, right? (Like mpv-progressbar or a modified osc.lua?)
>>
>https://github.com/onodera-punpun/mpv-progressbar

example pls
>>
>>47666333
It's pretty much always safe to upgrade from git. I've been doing it for years with no trouble.
>>
>>47666614
cropping isn't working, I pressed enter and nothing happens. The area shows up tho, like in the screenshot on the pypi page.

KP_ENTER doesn't register for me, I changed it to F6 to test and it worked there. All the KP* keys ain't working for me on windows. So after this, it also shows this even after getting the crop working

You haven't defined cut/crop or dumped info.
Encode input video intact? y/N y
Cannot proceed due to the following error: name 'y' is not defined

even with no crop it still displays that error, guess the info is not being passed?
>>
>>47663050
>RetroArch style DRC
Is this a meme? Why not just say vsync-based timing? Do people say this because they use RetroArch's FFmpeg backend?
>>
>>47667127
Thanks, I will investigate whether I should rebind KP_ENTER to some other key by default.
That error is strange. Could you please do the same with the "-v" key? It will show the traceback.
