First mITX build and man, cable management (if that's even a thing here) was an absolute bitch. I don't have small enough hands, and there's nowhere near enough space to make this look remotely tidy. This alone took me 3 hours of trial and error to get right.

hey, thanks.
I went with the 650 because my primary use is Photoshop, and it benchmarks as well for that as cards that cost 3-4 times as much. Besides, it let me keep my power consumption down and use the arctic cooler to remove the fans from my gpu and reduce noise. Once the front fans are replaced it will run almost silently.

>>
>>47478211
yup, but with the closed front (B type) - the mesh looked a little silly to me, and benchmarks gave equal temps regardless.

It's quite nice and is cheap enough to factor into a "budget conscious" gaming build like this one.

Next time I think I'm going to go for a SFX PSU, strip the power sheaths, and make a custom water loop for both the CPU and GPU.

The surprising thing is there's actually a lot of free space left in the chassis, the GPU (EVGA 970) leaves at least 2 ~ 3cm at the front and even with an ATX PSU, there's plenty of space between the mobo, GPU and radiator / front fan. They could, and for the sake of science, should make it smaller...
>>
>>47480353

The AI7 is 41L and fits 2*240 + 280

If you're using itx you can also add two more individual 120mm rads

Good build and certainly looks lightyears better than mine but I can never understand those who go itx and buy humongous cases.

If my temps max at like 70°C would water cooling be worth it for my GPU? Also how much worse would the temps become if I add a second one?

-dremeled out optical bay
-top grille was way too restrictive so that's gone too
-cut out a hole in the floor for the rad's drain port

do you even know what haswell PSU compatibility means? it means the PSU supports ultra-low-power C-states which are usually disabled by default in BIOS, and not important for desktop users anyway.

>4 inputs blowing into 1 exhaust

>we'll assume the exhaust fan isn't running at 4X speed/CFM/RPM of the input fans.

The exhaust fan is going to receive a force larger than it's own speed. If all the fans are the same CFM, then the exhaust will have 3X force (4x-1x) applied to it. The motor will act as a brake and restrict the blades from moving faster causing positive pressure inside the case. All 5 fans will be fighting against each other since all other egress is blocked off. This will cause excessive noise. Removing the exhaust fan would improve airflow and reduce noise.

So where are your guts, anon?
>>
>>47495270

The exhaust fan wouldn't spin faster if it was unplugged though, that's fucking retarded, sorry.
>>
>>47495270
You're fucking retarded because the case isn't air tight and air can escape through the gaps. Not only that, fans will receive less than a 1% performance if there are obstructs on the exhaust end.

Try it out yourself:

-check the rpm of a fan with no obstructions
-check the rpm again when you place the fan on the table, with the exhaust down

The result is a negligible rpm reduction.

Now compare the completely non breathable surface of your previous table to the air pressure inside the case.

In confined areas such a computer case fan setup is completely irrelevant as long as you can transport air quickly in and out.
>>
>>47495531

>case isn't air tight
He's photoshopped it to make it look air tight!

I've ran a fan on a tabletop before. It runs really loud due to the air being blocked. All fans get louder as you restrict the air!

The only thing you've proven is that modern fans have enough power to maintain RPM with all the air blocked off.

>In confined areas such a computer case fan setup is completely irrelevant
You need to read up of fluid dynamics before you can successfully troll about fans!
>>
>>47495630
>I've ran a fan on a tabletop before. It runs really loud due to the air being blocked. All fans get louder as you restrict the air!

No moron most of the fan noise is from air turbulence, with it sealed off all it remains is the motor noise and the small amount of air being escaping.

His setup is perfectly fine and you're just bitter as hell with your shit rig. Be glad you got schooled for free today.
>>

Damn... that stings.

How'd you know that my cables aren't sleeved and my fans are not made by Corshair and my case isn't Fwactal Design?

Here's post-management.

I've decided to replace the PSU with a Silverstone SX500-LG, which is fully modular and comes with a flat set of wires, so I should be able to get rid of the chunky wired mess between the radiator and the PSU now.

I'm also soon going to be removing the 3.5" drive from the computer and replacing it with another SSD, so more space and less noise. I'll probably have a much nicer looking setup in a week or so.

>>47498893

Blocking the fan with a video card, though...

>>47499006

Not buying it. Surely they would design it so it only fits the traditional horizontal configuration, if they had to choose.

>>47501497
You can start by giving me that GT you're wasting as an outtake.
>>
>>47489112

>>
>>4749992
if you can afford making a custom ultra slim rad LOL
>>
>>47501904

not that guy but a rear fan helps by sucking the hot heatsink exhaust air out of the case, it's not going to all perfectly sail through the rear grille, some is going to bounce off the back of the case and linger around
>>
>>47502383
I meant that GT, or Gentle Typhoon, is being wasted as an outtake. They're probably the best fans you can get for heatsinks and radiators and are becoming very hard to find.
>>
>>47477160

why 980 sli when only 1 monitor in 1080?

>>47505448
>this kills the port

>>
>>47505853
Because I haven't got the new monitor yet. I had the budget for a second 980, or a new monitor. It didn't make sense getting 1440p with 144hz with only one 980, so I figured I'd get the second 980 first and then buy the monitor after.

But I want to get the Acer XB270HU. It's the next piece of kit I want to buy.
>>
>>47505918

Thank you. It looked like the only downside to the monitor was the price tag (though still on price par with the overpriced ROG Swift).
