/g/, Do you seed? Should you seed?
>>47139391
yeah i seed ur mom lmao
srry son
>>47139391
Yes, yes.
I pay $20 annually for a decent quality seedbox.
Anybody who actually supports PTP file sharing should logically seed as to continue the cycle.
>>47139399
#hotfire
No
I don't care as long as I can download

>>47139391
/tv/ pls go
>>47139391
I seed about 30 TB per year.
I have low upload speed so I don't even bother. People with fiber make up for it.
Keep old torrents around and seed those. Nobody cares if you piss a few hundred kb/s into a popular torrent, but if you are the only seed at 10kb/s for something, you will make a few people really happy.
usenet doesnt need seeds
>not paying to pirate
>>47139403
Which service?
>>47139391
It costs nothing, so obviously.
Of fucking course you should seed, how else would your entitled ass download anything if not for the brave few seeders.
>>47139391
YES
I seed as much as I can. Most of it is hentai stuff (for some reason, I have a deep sense of gratitude when it comes to hentai).
Thinking of getting a seedbox. Could anyone recommend a good one? >>47139403
>>47139391
my 10kb/s won't help you get your porn faster so no
>>47139391
I seed and you should seed, at least up to a ratio of 1.
Some torrents i will seed for as long as possible others i delete after a few days, so its up to everyone.
I have a seedbox so it seed for me, i check it once a day and dont give much a fuck bout it.
>>47139585
That retention time though, a torrent is alive as long as someone has the content, a news article will eventually expire no matter what and you'd have to hope someone else uploads it again.
>>47140804
How do you figure? That's the basis of what makes swarming good, many slow connections at once combined into one fast one.
>>47139988
Kill yourself.
>>47139988
Feels good knowing someone else is downloading the same thing(s) you enjoy.
yes.
I hate this haircut so god damn much, any woman who gets it is a trend following dumb ass because it looks horrid.
I always seed 1/1
>>47141419
Why?
>>47141457
>he doesn't enjoy cumming on bitches with dyke haircuts
Never. But I use puiblic trackers so I don't see the point. I did when I was on bitGamer but they dead.
>>47139391
I use a VPN. Yes I seed.
If nobody seed, nobody s gonna download shit captain.
I used to not seed on public trackers, but ever since I've stopped using the pirate bay and signed up for rutracker, I've started seeding.
>>47141238
You're not wrong, but most providers have a retention time of a few years.
Sharing is caring
>>47141942
Not him but, I was searching some 2008 series recently and except some invite-only pvt trackers, I could find them only on public torrent trackers and with very few seeds too, it took me like 3 months to download 8GB, only 1 russian based seed with 3-12 kb/s upload that connected few times a week.
Usenet is worse than this, there's literally no point in using it, if all Usenet users paid for a seedbox instead, we'd still be able to find rare stuff released years ago and at decent speeds too.
Honestly to me looks like Usenet is not very productive, I value the preservation of releases that I enjoied watching, if I downloaded something from Usenet and my HDD died a few months later, there's a good chance I'll never find those files ever again. Meanwhile, if I downloaded using a seedbox, which continued to seed for the whole time, there's almost 100% chance that I'll be able to redownload those files from the very same people that downloaded from me.
Besides, I could just redownload the files from my seedbox account obviously, this is another advantage but I just ignored it to make that example.
>>47142361
For some odd reason (probably just due to age) the tools surrounding usenet are very sophisticated. All I have to do for all my media is add a series, artist, whatever and it will automatically show up on my disks when it comes out. They work partially with torrents as well but they're not as streamlined not to mention with torrents you're (sometimes) stuck with the name it's shipped with if that matters to you or some meta data program.
>>47142361
>Usenet is worse than this, there's literally no point in using it, if all Usenet users paid for a seedbox instead, we'd still be able to find rare stuff released years ago and at decent speeds too.
>decent speeds
Are you stupid? The usenet consists of user independent servers wich are on very fast connections..i can max out my 100mbit everytime
>>47142427
I think you misunderstood them, they're saying if a usenet person had a server of their own running a torrent client instead of paying for access to a usenet server then it would be better for the content at the same cost since it would be eternal. They're saying the "seedbox" would have decent speeds and actually exist compared to an older article that has been deleted (which would have no speed at all).
I'm not weighing my opinions here just reiterating what they're saying.
>>47142524
That's correct, Usenet is fast but files die early. Seedbox is fast as well but unlike Usenet, torrents can live for decades. Imagine that all Usenet users (I guess a million or so) were seedbox users, we are talking about +/- 1 million high speed independent download sources.
This is what I meant to say.
>>47142361
>if I downloaded something from Usenet and my HDD died a few months later, there's a good chance I'll never find those files ever again
Sure, if you have no idea how to use usenet effectively.
Personally, I've found there to be advantages and disadvantages to usenet. Got a 1tb block account to try it out over a year ago, used up less than half of it. I definitely torrent more frequently, though I've also found some cool, obscure shit on usenet that I couldn't find even through public trackers. It's nice not having to seed, and I always top out my connection when downloading through usenet. Not always the case when I download from my cheap seedbox or even just on my home connection. But yea, generally speaking torrent trackers have usenet beat hands down as far as the amount of content is concerned, and corrupt, unplayable media is pretty common on usenet right now. It's a cool system but it seems to be past it's prime.

What are Sonarr and SickRage?
I seeded my wife...fucking baby on the way in October. There goes all my golf/cars/AV/computer money.
>>47142818
They appear to be forks of the tools I'm talking about, not as automated end to end when using torrents over an index.
>>47142858
That's why you should have used a seedsack, aka condom.
jk break a leg m8!
I seed sometimes but my upload speed caps on 140 KiB/s, so most of the time I don't bother
>>47143227
Faster than me and I upload TBs a year
>>47142858
hahahaha
>>47142892
You can fully automate all of it. You will need:
An indexer. I recommend NZBGeek, but you can use one of the free ones to get you started
A usenet provider. I recommend Bulknews, but Astraweb are meant to be good too. You can probably get a month trial.
An NZB downloader. SABnzbd is easy to set up and is well supported. NZBget is technically better, but is harder to set up.
I'd always recommend Sonarr over Sickbeard/SickRage. It's more actively developed, faster, prettier, and just werks.
157 TV series on my NAS. Everything just downloads automatically at the quality I want, and I only ever touch any of it now when I want to add a new show.
>>47143409
You misread both my posts so far, we're talking about the torrent side being lacking of automation not the usenet side.
>>47139391
no.
no.
Yep, I seed. I have a habit of leaving my desktop on most of the time since when my internet connection was worse (300kbps down/75 up) I still wanted to keep a positive ratio. Now I'm at 10 times that speed, not quite as difficult anymore.
>>47143434
Sonarr and SickRage will also fully automate your torrent downloads. SickRage supports more torrent indexers at the moment, but Sonarr supports more with every update.
just finished dling jenny death and immediately removed once it was done lol
>>47143499
The issue being the torrent clients not being as sophisticated as newsclients when it comes to downloading, scheduling, post processing, etc.
>>47143533
They don't need to be. Sonarr or SickRage will do the searching and postprocessing for you.
>>47143651
I think you're doing it on purpose now so I'm not even going to continue.
No.
Yes.
Mostly because my UL is 512kbps that isn't really 512kbps but a little less.
>tfw i used to beat up nerds at school who seeded
AHAHAH U FUCKEN NERDS LMAP
I don't seed anything. And Usenet is worthless unless you absolutely must have your pirating automated/you're autistic about your xbmc etc...
>>47143665
Let's be friends!
As much as I hate to admit it, no. The only Internet service in my part of the boondocks is some shitty DSL lite, and for some reason, my ISP actually caps my upstream quite a bit. It would take me something like 2 weeks to seed back a 700 MB Linux ISO. I've tried.
I do try to limit my downloads, though. I won't go out of my way to torrent something unless it's really necessary.
i have a raspberry pi with the latest YIFI releases hidden away at university. it seeds like 1-2 tb every day
>>47139391

at private trackers and only for the minimum time they request and at 20k/s at most.
Never 1:1
No because I fear getting another letter from my ISP. If there was no risk I wouldn't mind at all
Who is this semen demon?

Good job ruining your life. By the way what does this have to do with technology you dumb fuck?

nah because cops
i dont even torrent anymore. torrenting has become mainstream
think my client is broken, it never uploads anything really, maybe 1 byte per second if im lucky
downloads at full speed though
>seeding

I want to get my films for free, not pay an electric cost which will be as much. Why should I help criminals out anyway hmm :^) ?
Is it safe to seed?

I've only gotten warning letters years ago. Now I don't torrent movies that come out this year. And I don't seed until a movie is 5 years old. Everything else I seed the shit out of. I also run a bitcoin and litecoin node and I upload a large amount on those as well.
>>47148875
what a fucking cunt
why is it so hard to seed on what.cd
>seed
>2015
>>47142858
good job, you're a fucking idiot.
Well here it's not illegal to download but it's illegal to share so fuck seeding nigger.
>2015
>still torrenting
Yes i do seed
I do it because seeding is that ethic that drives the P2P file sharing community. You download, then we download. It applies to everyone. Just doing my part trying to sustain the glorious P2P
Fucking poser haircut.
Never seeded before and never will.
I get what I want and leave.
