Probably need to buy that 8TB hard drive from Seagate in the future. Or atleast another 5TB drive. My 5tb drive has a copy of my 3TB drive. But now I need another HDD to back up the extra stuff I added to the 5tb.
What takes up most of my storage is uncompressed blu rays or blu ray remuxs I download.

How do you guys keep an eye on all these hard drives incase one starts to die out?
My HDD stopped working recently and I want to replace it with a SSD. My motherboard is from 2010 and only supports SATA 2. Should I just go for the best (storage/dollar) SSD I can find? Try to find a SSD that has a max read write of 300MB (The supposed maximum bandwidth of SATA 2)?

I was planning on getting the Samsung 850 prom but I don't have any plans to upgrade my motherboard soon. The most demanding things I use my computer for are playing older/indie games and watching TV shows. Wouldn't a Samsung 850 Pro not be utilized to even half of it's power since I don't have SATA 3?

You can turn on RAM caching for even better write speed.
I'm using it on my laptop with sata 2 and I with arm caching i get about 400 mb read speeds and about 200 write random speeds.
