ENT had some promise, but they should've stuck with more of an exploring the unknown angle, rather than all that temporal cold war stuff.

You really have to know what to look for in DS9. The Kira romances and Bajoran politics are just so awful that I don't even watch any of them. Really DS9 is like you say that it strays so far from the original series that it becomes its own universe. That being said, TNG planted the seed that would become DS9.

TNG also had its share of piss poor episodes (someone say Troi?).

The original series is pure gold all around, and I don't think there will ever be anything quite as good as it.

Liken the transporters to wireless cards.
You gone git lost in the buffer m8.
With that in mind, sickbays pointless when you can use a transporter to reassemble them sans the ailment.
>>
>>46898979
I wonder if every time they use the transporter, the original consciousness is killed and the re-assembled person is a new copy.

I've always thought that but it ties in well with their selfless societies, they no longer live for themselves it's all about 'muh cause'.
They're all ghosts filling some shoes and wearing faces long since dead.
When you reduce a person to a mere instance of the idea of them star trek is a dystopia from a personal perspective.

>>
>>46899103
Nah it's all squeaky clean, you won't even notice, well, nobody else will, you will cease to exist and therefore no longer care.

This is also why 'redshirt' deaths are fucking stupid because you convert the idea of someone into a transporter pattern, you can effectively clone the idea of them meaning you will never want for personnel ever again.

Death from a staffing point of view is an inconvenience at worst.
>>
>>46888704
Fuck, have the entire crew in transporter buffers anyway.

Crew dies? Too bad, transport another batch of 'm to their work stations.

Transporters: suicide is fun! At least your clone gets to be on the planet faster.
>>
>>46899169
It's a matter transporter, not a matter replicater(if you ignore that Riker thing). I can't recall replicater creating biological life in any ST.

>>
>>46899217
But if you can reduce something to a pattern, whats to stop you feeding in a metric assload of whatever the fucks in that nebula over there as a raw resource and shaping it into the pattern? You've essentially converted matter to energy and back, tweak it in the buffers and you have a replicator of sorts.

I was attempting to sidestep the replicator issue of them being rather shit but you're right, it's the same fucking tech it's just a transporter removes the 'original' from existence first and pulls the pattern from what it destroyed while replicators work from templates.

>>
>>46899186
Imagine if they just did away with the from direction and only transported to directly from the buffers.
You could transport a whole army of Worfs onto the planet and have them kill themselves when the mission was completed.
>>
>>46899447
No need to kill them, feed them to the replicators, I assume that does something or voyager would not have bothered doing it for their anally retentive energy saving policies.
>>
>>46899431
>Will the events of the Jedi Knight series be contradicted?
I would count on it. I don't really care because it was so minor to the expanded universe but I wouldn't be surprised if they at least had the Jedi Acadamy on Yavin IV.

Can someone explain why exactly they loved Firefly? I don't understand the cult status of the show, and it has nothing to do with "space western" setting. That's what attracted me to it in the first place.
Everyone praised it so much, I couldn't believe how average the show was.

>TNG > DS9 > TOS > a pile of shit > VOY
I'd literally smear a pile of shit on my HD than watch VOY again.

The jailbait.
They literally just masturbated to the episodes like it was some shitty loli anime.
>>
>>46900644
Makes sense, it is very popular among anime fans! I always assumed it's because it sounds like Cowboy Bebop or Trigun, but it's probably the fapping.

Absolutely amazing, I'm a bigger fan of the more modern one though.

Trigun is a mixed beast - first half is "lol whacky space-western" while once knives and crew turn up it goes grimdark "morals make the man" territory.

Voyager generated a huge lesbian movement because of the implied sexual tensions between Janeway and Seven.

The doctor would have adopted Paludis and ended up with Seven of Nine.

The Borg would have won after downloading and installing Gentoo.

In b4 that kazon rape comic.

"Remember, kazon head-crests make birth tricky!".

The "romantic" or "sensual" holodeck programs were always too weird.
For example, when Riker chooses to play a trombone with a jazz band for a classy lady, he smiles and acts as if he found a glory hole or something. He chooses the lady very carefully, in front of guys that tweaked the holodeck.
And he's as shocked when caught dancing and hugging with the woman, as you would be if you got caught masturbating.
It always felt like that was their future porn, or at least a future porn substitute for SFW television.

Maybe only count the last season or so and it's decent, but god damn all the shit leading up to it was boring as fuck.

Minute is shit.

Remember: S1 and 2 TNG are shit, its S3 it becomes legot/riker grows a beard.

>>46901174

Ratings wise trek peaked mid TNG, it was all downhill from there.

THAT SAID ENT was the only trek apart from TOS to be canclled before it was "finished".
>>
>>46901181
Enterprise had so many cheap "ratings booster" scenes that it was no wonder no one took it seriously. So much less classy than TNG.
>>
I enjoyed Voyager, but then I was about 15 when it came out so I think I just didn't know any better. Rewatching it is painful. There are some good fun episodes in the middle once they ditched Kes but they were trying too hard to get them off of the ship onto lavish sets when some of the bottle shows are the best.
DS9 had a bad start but damn if the whole dominion war wasn't an epic story. ENT sucked.
>TNG > DS9 > TOS > VOY > ENT anyway

Above is what I'm sure they wanted. What they actually got is fans that couldn't give a shit. Good riddance.
