>muh games
go back to /v/ you piece of shit
gratis not libre
Also not free if you make money.
>>46816636
Someone be salty.
hmm i thing i give it a try but is there any way to do the programming without that visual/blueprint scripting? its fucking retarded
>>46816541
I hope the japs would deliver quality waifu games.
>>46816636
games lead to more software innovation than anything else
>>46816698
And hardware
>>46816692
This.
Much easier to write GLSL code than messing with a blueprint system.

If it was going libre that'd be news for here, but it's not. Fuck off.
While this is cool and generally means that designers can focus on the game rather than trying to make the technology work (well, in theory, modern game design is mostly shit), I still miss the really old days where every game had its own game engine built from scratch.
Every game had a unique look with the way everything was rendered (and of course, tech limitations meant creating an artstyle that balanced performance with attractive visuals)
MUH BLUEPRINTS AND APPLEFASHIONCOMPUTER !
why the fuck they have that visualscripting language?
>shitty hourly phone, watch, chinkpad threads get replies all the time
>thread about one of the most advanced video game engine does not
this is why /g/ is shit
I'm installing it now, so much compiling.

but i already have a subscription
will cliffy b. give me a handjob instead? o wait
>>46816814
While that might be true, there's already a board dedicated to that.
>>46816541
RIP Unity
>>46816541
Does that mean people can make their own games on it? And publish them?
>>46818475
/v/ is dedicated to consuming video games.
Technology used in creation of video games is still well within the realm of /g/ discussion territory.

ebin, ebin to the max

Game engines are some of the most complex software available, it's technology whether you like it or not
>>46818492
probably just free for indie then pay licencing when you publish, they gotta make money somewhere
While I agree to a certain extent you're just going to have to deal with cross board posting, we regularly get console threads and a large positron of /g/ users post /a/ related content. If you remember /biz/ used to be /g/ but we still get BitCoin related threads occasionally.
>>46816654
>"and it includes 100% of the C++ source code"
Isn't it libre?
>>46816636
This is a meme.
For some reason, an anti-video game meme has recently been sweeping through 4chan. Mention video games in any way and some people act like you're an apologist for beastiality and pedophilia. They totally lose their shit. And so far I have not been able to determine any reason for it, other than that they are repeating what they heard someone else say.
>>46816541
>free for everyone
>except if you create a product using it and generate revenue exceeding 3000 usd per quarter
>>46816814

>gaymen
HAHA, OH WOW!
>>46818669
It's pretty easy to explain on /g/
Games=Windows
>>46818683
It's a great idea, you can still make 12000 per year on your still tux racer clone but when you actually start bringing in the cash with tux racer 2 you give Epic a tiny portion so they can pay the team of highly skilled, qualified programmers to continue to innovate and improve the engine so in a few years time you can have a better engine for tux racer 3
have no idea why people expect to get professional software for free, programmers aren't cheap
>>46816636
You can use it for more than games.
>>46818743
>dat image
JTAG/CFW/etc for XboxOne/PS4 when?
I want a cheap silent HTPC with easy no-tool access to the HDD, and native wireless controller and remote support.
>>46818803
lies, you want to play isos from an external hdd
>>46818803
Probably never. Just look at Vita. Sony learned their lesson with PS3 and PSP.
>>46818743
Are you really calling for common sense on 4chan?
>>46818803
There's no point anymore. 360 and PS3 were top of the line prototypes subsidized to help sell software, but PS4/XboxOne are sold for profit from day one.

>ausfailia.jpg
Okay guys help me. I just wanted to get into unity, but I didnt plan on making realistic graphics, so what should I do? Is C++ even good if im just a beginner. I dont have much programming experience but I could learn everything if I want it.
>>46818743
But it's not really "free for everyone" then
>>46816636
>making games = playing games
say more hilariously stupid shit.
>>46816541
UDK was free as well, i dont know the royalty difference, but isnt this quite similar to the last product?
>>46816541
nobody in this entire fucking thread can even program long enough to complete anything.
go back to sleep you losers
>>46816541
i guess i'm downloading and stop being a neet
