Are there any 'normal' (non-Apple) laptops that look as great as this?
>>

I don't know.

I want to open it, put my dick in and slam the lid

No. Build your own.

Looks are subjective

Some of the ASUS laptops look decent, the Zenbook line I think.
The new Dell XPS13 looks pretty good too, shame about the flimsy keyboard though.
>>
>>46788403
Too bad it can't stay at a constant brightness.

Please point me in the direction where you can buy laptop chassis and monitor frames.

personally i like how the x1 carbon looks
>>
>>46788411
you can't
it's just some idiot spouting the same shitty meme over and over
>>
>>46788346
Not really. Personally I like the low-fi look of the thinkpads and old Dell Latitudes but that's probably because of the laptop itself rather than the design of the shell.
>>
>>46788388
Homemade laptops are a thing now?
>>
>>46788408
They probably do that to save power, they're not going to let you disable it.
>>
>>46788411
You don't buy snything to build a laptop. You may as well buy a laptop.

>>46788422
What meme?
>>
>>46788469
Show pictures of your own self built laptop. If you are suggesting others to do something that you can't even do yourself, then you are just a stupid meme spouting faggot.

I don't trust uploading files to the Internet.

No, because the only way to install it is to write the code into the source of your OS in Machine Code format.

I want

16:10 (or less wide) IPS matte screen

Good trackpad with 2 actual hardware buttons and middle-click available.

Good IBM-style thinkpad keyboard or decent equivalent, preferably with no windows/super key.

Thin and lightweight

Modern hardware

Apple Macbook build quality

It doesn't exist though.

It's pretty easy if you know where to get parts from. And I mean REAL parts, not shit that you can buy from Wal Mart or whatever.

Of course there are.
And mine's more compatible with hardware than that, too.
>>
>>46788821
I know where to find parts for free. I'm talking about basic parts, the ones that make up what the cults force you to call "parts" (hard drive, monitor, RAM, GPU, CPU, motherboard, etc.).

The Latitude D630 is pretty modern.
And 16:10.
Not 'brand new', but core 2 duo at decent clock speeds.

ALSO, it's heavy, but there's a panasonic toughbook that's 16:10 and has an i5.

>Built by the cults and not the end user
How does it feel, having every choice made for you?
>>
>>46788900
what about the D630? It's pretty small and nice. And it even has a firewire port and a serial port on the back!
And they are pretty damned cheap and on par with the high end thinkpads of the time.
>>
>>46788904
it feels comfy not having to decide things. who would want that kind of burden and responsibility?
>>
>>46788904
how does it feel not having the resources to build your own laptop, and getting offered a stack of 6 D630's by an IT guy you know who's been ordered to recycle them?
>>
>>46788933
I have the resources to build the fucking fans, you hobo!
>>
>>46788915
Serial is useless a USB to serial converter is like 15 bucks
>>

funny. I can make a fan, too. I just got pre-built laptops free, though.

>>46788969

how's it feel doing the cults work for them?

>>46788984
As someone who doesn't like wasting USB ports and realizes the benefits of an internal one (no drivers to install), I have to say that you are a moron.

The Pixel is probably my favorite laptop of the last few years from a design perspective.

I really like the 3:2 display and I prefer the darker aluminum body to the silver aluminum used in Macbooks.
>>
>>46788346
Ah, the renowned "Lackbook Pro". Lacks RAM, storage capacity and GPU power. What a turd.
>>
>>46789230

Other than that and the overheating it was cool

I feel like ENVY had great design, then HP bought them and they went to shit.
>>

>>

>>46789239

As an owner of one, I have to agree. The battery life and SSD performance are pretty damn good as well.
>>
>>46789563
But, I have the "business" version (matte screen, no touch and windows 7) and it doesn't look quite as good as those pictures.
>>
>>46788346
What is the market for the pixel? What kind of niche does it fall into? It doesn't make sense
>>
>>46789230
>>46789239
too bad they don't sell anymore
>>
>>46788346
x220
>that is all
>>
>>46789642
There is no market for the Pixel. Google has lots of money to spend and wanted their employees to be coding on something other than Macbooks and crappy $200 Chromebooks so they made the Pixel. At this point they thought they may as well make it available to purchase for the public. It was never meant to be a money maker for them.

It obviously has major limitations but I recently was gifted one by a generous ex-Google friend and I have to say the build quality and design are awesome.
