I use desktops.
Laptops are for content consumption, their ergonomics are shit, their screens are tiny, they have pitiful graphics and hold only one or two hard disks, they have limited RAM capacity, they won't accept multiple high-performance video cards, their keyboards are garbage, their pointing devices ditto. and they are not convenient to service or upgrade.

I plug in my laptop to three screens and a mouse when i have it at work. Similar set up at home. 16gb of ram is enough for me, and the graphics card seems to be capable of playing all the games I play at 60fps. The harddisk is also big enough, I'd get an external drive if i needed one, but am not close to that yet.
Seems like a waste to have a separate desktop and laptop when you can just use one.

My company bought me one that cost about that. It's the best laptop money can buy right now, and the work I do ends up making a least a hundred thousand dollar difference in what we earn every year, so why not spend a bit extra to get better hardware? There's nothing you can buy better than a mac for the work we do.

Macbooks are pretty awesome just by virtue of the fact that they have a good keyboard and trackpad. I can work quite comfortably on a bus or train with my mac in a way I could never do with my thinkpad. Also the hardware quality is terrific, good quality speakers, great screen, great battery, there no weak areas or compromises.

What work is that, exactly? Unless that work is iOS development or something, then a Macbook has nothing special to offer. And i'm guessing that isn't the case since you specifically mentioned hardware. I got an MSI GE70 with almost identical specs to a Macbook Pro, except with a slightly superior GPU. Plus the freedom to replace just about every single thing in it. Even the keyboard and screen. I spent literally less than half ($1100 at Fry's) the cost of a Macbook Pro with similar specs.
Not that I disagree with the fact that a reliable laptop with non-shitty hardware pays for itself, but that last sentence just irks me.

Not in my experience. Other laptops tend to have at least one of these:
- Shitty build quality, flex in areas, easily prone to cracking (my 2012 thinkpad did this, flexed in a few areas right out of the box)
- Terrible trackpads. Macbooks trackpads are the only one's I've tried that are even remotely good.
- Shitty screens
- Heavy/big
- Shitty speakers, doesn't matter so much but it sucked when i paid $1000 for thinkpad and the speakers were fucking ass.
Most laptops you can find for the same price of a macbook have at least some of these major problems and usually a few.
