Well the G-IT lab guys are like "hey let's not fight near the ocean ring because if we damage it the water will spill out" and yell at the Venus police to not fight there and then go ahead and do it and blow a fucking huge hole in the colony anyway.
And they don't seem to be doing much exploration, just getting dragged from place to place without explanation by some higher political power. Tomino's ridiculousness aside the show feels like someone trying to tell a story but can't get the words out because they have brain damage that prevents them from saying what they mean.
If the show had been more episodic, perhaps with a villain of the week and maybe a hinted-at overall story I would probably like it a lot more.
