What are some neat add-ons to put in the drive bay if i have an external optical drive for the rare occasion a disc will be used
has to be somewhat practical too please so no mini ovens and stuff like that
looks handy, monitoring

that little drawer thing would be better if it had a mock optical drive faceplate, it'd be the one place that absolutely nobody would think to look
>>45459720
A fan controller. That's about it.
How many 5.25" bays do you have available?
I'm working on a homemade server, and I'm using a shitty mATX case. I'm gonna get a hard drive cage to fit in the 5.25" bays. You can fit four 3.5" drives in three 5.25" bays, or three 3.5" bays in the space of two 5.25" bays.
Fan controller? Frontal USB hub or card reader? LCD display?

You could probably do that yourself. Pry off the front of some old or broken disc drive, and stick it onto the drawer. Recess the drawer a bit so the faceplate sits flush with the case.

>Frontal USB hub or card reader?
this seems like one of the more practical/useful options but the only ones I can find for sale look to be turbocheap junk
>>45459720
I've got 2 of those drawers I got for $6au for the pair.
Best thing i bought for my pc, never lose my keycap remover anymore, product keys are in there, allen keys, screw drivers, all my peripheral cables.
10/10 pc addon

if one really wanted to go the extra mile one could make their own entirely out of an old optical drive, gutting out the metal case. That way it still looks legit even if someone opens the case.
I don't even know what I'd hide in such a compartment but the idea is fun.
I have one, it fits full sized jewel cases, a bit flimsy as its all plastic.

I have two of those drawers in my case and can confirm they are indeed extremely useful.
The spring mechanism inside breaks very easily but it's not hard to rig something up to get into them.

Uh, are you looking for high quality or something?
Bitfenix makes a USB 3.0 front panel card reader.

i have two dvd drives installed in my 5.25" bays

What in the actual fuck

Distributed computing
Except it's all local
Offloading rendering and shit
I'm sure there are uses for this thing
>>45459875
how?
>>45459921
Thats a cool addon. No idea how id actually make use it but there must be something.
>>45459851
Looked through the whole list, 99% retarded shit, 1% logically useful stuff that I don't need.
I'm planning on getting this. Not only will it be faster than my USB 3 dock, but much more cleaner too.
Only problem is I've already got a fan controller in my spare 5.25" bay, but I think I'll be able to put it inside the case. I don't use it that often.
The next case I buy will have at least three 5.25" bays, preferably four.
I use a hot swap bay (pic related). It's pretty neat to have sensitive data (porn) on a seperate hard drive that you can eject and store at a secure location whenever you want. I also plan to use it for backups.
>>45460149
yeah, forgot the pic as usual
>>45459921
Connect all your HDDs to it except your boot drive and have it run transmission and a samba/ftp server. Bam, Seedbox and NAS. You no longer have to keep your noisy, hot, power-hungry machine on when you want to watch a movie in the living room or leave a torrent downloading overnight, and when you want to go to a LAN or something you don't have to bring your NAS too, it's already there.
>>45460149
Yeah, it would be horrible if your mom found your porn collection while cleaning your room.
>>45460160
>45460160
IS there such a thing as a Hot-swap bay or adapter in general that will accept my old PATA HDDs for use on a newer SATA mobo?
>>45460183
how is this computer powered?
if you used it as an internal NAS you'd need another PSU to power it and the hdd's without turning on the main computer
>>45459921
If it had NICs you could use it as some kind of firewall or IPS.
>>45459967
They're the kind of drawers that you push on to latch open and closed. Works well enough for a while, but the mechanism for it is tiny and flimsy so it doesn't take long for the cheap plastic to break and leave you with a drawer that won't open or close.
>>45460208
Splice your 24-pin ATX so you can add a second power button that only lights up the molex and sata rails.

But anon, I already own an nVidia card
>please so no mini ovens and stuff like that
Why would someone want to put a mini oven *inside* of their computer case? I'm confused why people would want a totally unnecessary heat source radiating inside the computer.
>>45460252
ATI*
Oh wait those are normal ovens. My bad
I keep a gun under the keyboard of my 755CE.
Took the HDD and battery out. Fits perfectly.
>murrica fuck yeahr
Im damn intrested to add some hotswaps but do they require bootoff so you can remove/equip safely?

I want mini ovens. Show me Mini ovens
